Chapter 27: Liar
I remained watching him with teary eyes, tapping his legs gently so I could not wake Rhyme up.
He doesn't have any idea that he already met his father just like what he dreamt of.
That he really got over me. He moved on from us. He doesn't care. Those eyes told me I was nothing to him now. He was surprised to see me after eight years of being gone but other than that, nothing more.
Because of what happened, hindi ko na nakayanan pang bumalik ulit sa Venue. I excused myself to Byron and told him I cannot leave Rhyme alone lalo na at sumama ang loob niya sa akin sa pag sigaw na ginawa ko kanina.
I didn't stop apologizing to him when we left the venue until he finally forgave me and fell asleep. He apologizes as well for not listening to me.
I never do that before kaya naiintindihan ko kung nasaktan ko ang damdamin niya kanina.
I rested my forehead on my knees and leaned my back on the bed, sitting on the cold floor and crying silently. I asked myself repeatedly how I would be able to leave this place without seeing him.
"Suriel."
I heard his steps coming closer to me. Until they are in front of me. When I felt him rubbing my hair, I looked up at him.
"Rhyme is sleeping. The event is still ongoing. What about let's go outside to get some fresh air?" he suggested.
"What if I saw him outside?" umiling ako.
"I'm here." aniya sa simpleng tono ng salita pero naglalaman ng kasiguraduhan.
Tahimik na tumulo ang aking panibagong luha. Inalalayan niya akong makatayo. Holding my hand, he pulled me with him outside the room.
"Let me guess," he uttered. "Pierce Carreras is Rhyme's father."
I looked down at the pool, hugging his jacket.
"Even if you don't tell me, I noticed how you looked at him as you met his eyes. Ganoon rin siya. Sakit. Galit. Pangungulila. Iyon ang nakikita ko sa kaniya. Pagsisisi, pangungulila, umaasa. Your eyes screaming that as if you want to run and hug him after not seeing each other for years but you couldn't."
"Damn. Rhyme has a billionaire father and uncles. Such a powerful name he has carrying." he chuckled. "He has a good mother with good friends around her that are willing to take care of you anytime."
"Do you think I'm wrong hiding him from his father?" tanong ko, wala sa sarili.
"Hmm..." napaisip siya. "I can't tell, actually. It depends on the situation but I can't judge you either. But all I'm sure of is it was hard for you to hide him from his father." aniya.
