LUNA
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9

Walking into school, I adjust the straps of my backpack nervously on my tense shoulders as I remember my conversation with Steve from last night. Why the hell did I agree to go on a date with him? I was overwhelmed and didn't think it through properly, that's why. And now I have to face him today.

Jesus H Christ, I am so pathetic.

"Luna, hey," Nancy smiles nervously, meeting me at my locker and standing behind me.

Opening my locker, I glance at her and notice the way her hands fidget with the outer sleeve of the textbook in her arms. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah! Yeah, totally. I just..." Nancy adjusts the purse on her shoulder and looks around. "I feel like everyone's staring at me."

Looking around, I spot a few groups of students who stare, but they seem to all be staring at me, not the shy girl beside me. "I don't think it's you they're staring at, but if it is, take it from me, you'll get used to it."

"I'm sorry," Nancy says with the corners of her lips turning down knowing that she was one of the students who would stare too.

Shaking my head in dismissal, I pull out the books for my first hour class. "It's whatever," I say, shutting my locker.

"Are you okay?" Nancy asks before I can walk away. "It's just... you seem stressed."

"Yeah, I'm..." Sighing, I lean on my locker and bit my lower lip in contemplation. "If I tell you something, you won't go around telling everyone, right?"

Nancy's eyebrows lift in surprise and she immediately shakes her head. "No, of course not."

I can't believe I'm doing this.

I look around to make sure nobody will hear before I turn back to Nancy. "Steve asked me on a date."

Nancy's eyes widen slightly with excitement and she subconsciously leans forward a bit. "Really? What did you say?"
