JIM HOPPER
FIDAY, NOVEMBER 11

We found Will Byers body in the quarry on Wednesday night. I had gone to Joyce's house to break the news to her and Jonathan, but Joyce refused to believe a word I said. I told myself she was just dealing with the grief in her own way and that it would pass soon enough. I went through something similar with Sarah, so I understood. But, I just couldn't get Hawkins Lab out of my head. They're suspicious and I had to find out why.

That's why I went to the lab yesterday and broke my way in. I found Will's 'body' and lo and behold, it was fake. It was just a silicone mold stuffed with cotton. If the lab was lying about a kid's death, I knew something bigger was going on, so I kept exploring the lab until I found a room filled with white spores and black vines on every surface. The vines all led to some sort of crack on the far side of the wall. I had never seen anything like it. It almost looked like it had a heartbeat. I reached my hand out and I touched it, but some assholes snuck up on me and shoved a needle in my neck.

That's also why today, I'm waking up on the couch of my trailer, soaked in sweat. Confused, I look over to the coffee table to see a bunch of pills spilled out of an orange prescription bottle.

No, no, no, I couldn't have taken those. I stopped taking them in August.

I rip the blanket from my body, grab my gun that sits on the coffee table, and frantically rush towards Luna's room first.

A few years into my marriage with Diane, she had told me the truth about Luna's existence. She never went into details, and I didn't force her to, but she told me that Luna was special, and that there were people who would try to take her away if they found out. It's one of the reasons that we moved away to New York for a while, and I'm starting to put the pieces together that the Lab might have been involved.

So, if those pricks from the lab brought me here, that means they came into the trailer where they could've found Luna, and who knows what they would've done to her if they had.

I don't bother knocking before I swing open the door and look straight to Luna's bed. I sigh in relief when I see her sleeping under the covers. "Luna," I say, but I get no response. I walk closer to the bed and remove the blanket. Underneath it is a bunch of pillows and spare throw blankets.

She might be at school, but why would she put these pillows here if she is? Is the lab behind this?

No. She's at school. She has to be.
