"You guys are so fucking slow," Parker groaned, slouched on a bench in front of our High School.

Mildred High has a relatively large population of students. Everyone has their own cliques with some people bouncing around friend groups. People here are, for the most part, fake social climbers. Being one of ten twins, it's hard to not know us— in the least conceited way possible.

"Well, let's get going then," I exclaimed, "there's no time like the present!"

Parker rolled his eyes at my joke while Gage revealed a little smirk.

Arms linked, Ella and I skipped our way to Gage's car.

We decided on a local food center of varying options for lunch, as all juniors and seniors do.

Walking into the most popular place of them all, sure enough, juniors and seniors filled the tables.

The four of us stood on line and took this time to scope out our surroundings.

"Fuck," Ella muttered, causing me to follow her eyes, "all your brothers are here."

"So?" Gage questioned, a look of confusion plastered on his face.

"They're not exactly fond of you guys," Ella informed, curling her lips in to contain her laughter.

"What? How! We're the best people on planet Earth!"

Parker nodded in agreement as Ella and I let out a slight giggle.

"Just pretend we don't see them," I whispered, turning away to face the front of the line.

"Too late," Ella warned, her whisper coming out more worried.

I turned to face my brothers again and saw each one of them glaring at us. I swear, their eyes could be shooting fire right now.

I innocently smiled at them, even adding a small wave. Ella gave them a little recognition smile, as well.

Liam kept his harsh look, gesturing for me to come over with a small two-finger 'come here' motion.

I tapped Ella's arm and together we slowly walked over.

"Hey guys! Looking mighty fine today!" Ella joked with a cheesy smile. I attempted to contain my laughter at her attempt to lighten the mood.

"Can't say the same, Ella," Max replied, rolling his eyes. Party-poopers.

"I thought we said not to make that an everyday thing," Liam reprimanded, waving his finger towards the general area of Gage and Parker.

"It's not," I stated, "it's an every other day thing."

My brothers gave each other looks before answering.

"You know we saw you guys get into his stupid little car yesterday, right?" Clay remarked, an eyebrow raised.

"And the day prior when they came to our basement," Noah added.

"Don't forget the day prior to that one," Gabriele chimed in.

"And the one before that with the rest of their little gang," Corey commented.

"And the day they went—," Zach began, but Ella and I had enough.

"Okay! We get it!" Ella growled, slamming her palms down on the table.

"Girl, watch those palms!" Zach joked, bringing the mood up slightly. Ella's corners of her mouth lifted slightly, but she didn't allow herself to completely smile.

"So it's an everyday thing," I admitted, "no biggy!"

"No biggy?" Brandon repeated, laughing with disbelief, "we've watched you two cry over those assholes countless times."

Ella and I were both speechless. It was the truth.

"Look," Brandon sighed, "we're just looking out for you two."

"Yeah, don't forget what happened last time," Reece cautioned, lowering his voice a bit.

I winced at the memory.

"We'll be fine," Ella reassured them, grabbing my hand.

"You're up in line," Max pointed out, causing us to turn.

Gage and Parker waved over to us with two larger grins.

"Morons," Noah muttered, shaking his head.

Ella and I said bye to the boys and went over to the two of them, ordering our food.

"Can we eat, like, in the car maybe," Ella suggested, playing with the top of her takeout bag.

"Yeah, is everything okay with your brothers?" Parker wondered, looking over at me.

"They're just being annoying," I said quickly, heading for the door. Ella, Parker, and Gage walked with me.

"Is it because of us?" Parker furthered.

"I'd be glad to talk to the young men," Gage spoke with humor in his voice, causing Ella to swat his arm.

"They're protective, that's all," I reworded, "and do not talk to them, Gage." Parker and him laughed at that.
