Ella
With my masquerade mask and sparkly dress, I really felt like I was some 21st Century Daisy searching for the infamous party-thrower among a sea of broken champagne flutes and drunk businessmen. But I'm not Daisy, I'm drunk off vodka and white claws, not champagne, and everyone around me is a plastered high schooler. I'm looking for Zach, whose golden blonde hair I'd recognize anywhere, but I can't seem to find him.
On my long journey, I first ran into Noah. He was mysteriously slouched alone as a couple on the opposite side of the couch made out. Intoxicated with confidence, I tumbled back into the seat and slurred, "where in the world is your brother?"
"I have quite a few. You might have to give me a name." He hardly turned his head to look at me, keeping his eyes half-closed.
"Zach."
"What do you need Zach for?"
"He asked me for a drink so I have to give it to him." The lie rolled right off my tongue.
"You're not holding a drink?"
"I, um, drank it, but now I have to go...apologize to him!"
"Sure. But I haven't seen him."
I grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him. "Noah, please, use your decuplet psychic abilities and tell me where he is!"
"Ella, I'm sorry, but I haven't seen him all night." He grinned lazily. "Maybe he has a lady."
I scowled and stomped away. He definitely does not. I hope.
Most unfortunately, I proceeded to run into Trevor, who was ecstatic to see me. "Ella, babe, hey!" I tried to keep walking, but he stopped me in my tracks. "Woah, what's going on girl? I figured we could pick up where we left off during that movie."
Having lost my filter, I became visibly disgusted. "Oh my God, ew, Trevor, no!" I stopped to recollect myself. "Look, I'm not interested. I'm really sorry if I implied ever or led you on in any way." Drunk me could be quite emotional.
"Um, yeah, so I would say that you did." He looked up and grimaced. "Is this about Cameron?"
I recoiled. "What? Who said that!" I proceeded to stumble back into something. Or someone.
I heard Trevor sigh, "It's obvious," but I was now more concerned with what was currently keeping me from falling straight on my ass. Two long arms hooked around mine.
Trevor walked away as the mystery arms said, "Hey Ella." Shit. I know that voice.
I stood up and faced Cam. "Hey," I replied awkwardly. What the hell is my luck.
"I wasn't going to come, but Gage told me you'd be here, cause, you know, you basically live here."
"Oh yeah. Thanks for that, Gage," I whispered. I looked up at him and my slight anger melted away.
He's so tall and he's leaning down to talk in my ear and oh my God he's hot.
"I'm glad I came. I get to see the belle of the ball." I giggled as he took my hand and spun me around. I was wearing a gold sequined mask and cream silk dress that twirled out. "You look great."
