Reece
I was making my way back to my room when I heard a rather interesting conversation coming from my sister's room.
A conversation with no other than Ella Adams discussing my brother, Zach.
"I got with Zach," Ella said, giggling, "it was amazing."
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is what I call perfect timing.
I put my ear to the door, looking left and right for any other siblings, a smirk on my face.
"No way!" Scarlett cheered, "tell me everything."
"Well, he was drunk, which was interesting," Ella said, "but it made him say a lot."
"Like?"
"Like being vulnerable, you know?"
That was all I needed to get my brain's motor system working.
The wheels were turning and twisting and this story was about to be, too.
How do I get to Zach without going directly to Zach?
Well, that's simple– Gabe.
Gabe is a good kid. He'd tell Zach exactly what I tell him, especially because Zach knows he never told him about Ella and I.
I pranced to Gabe's room, giving a rather confident knock onto his door.
"Come in!"
"Hey, dear brother," I greeted, shutting the door.
"Hey, what's up?" He smiled, looking back at his phone.
"I just overheard some gossip, and I felt like sharing to my bestie," I joked, trying to sound like Scarlett would.
"Well, if you're sharing something then it must be good," he shut his phone off, "so shoot."
"I was walking by Scar's room when I heard Ella say how she got with Zach," I started, Gabe's jaw already falling.
"What!"
"If you think that's shocking, just wait," I continued, "because then I heard the details."
He was invested, super invested.
This was perfect.
"She told Scarlett that he was just drunk and so was she, and that the whole hookup meant nada."
"Nothing? What? Seriously?"
"Seriously."
He scoffed. "That's ridiculous!"
"Tell me about it," I rolled my eyes, playing the part, "I mean, how disgusting, huh?"
"Yeah," he shook his head in disbelief, "crazy."
"Yeah, well I'm going to go play basketball with Corey," I told him, exiting, "but just wanted to share."
Gabe
"Have fun!" I called out to Reece as he shut my door.
I sat there for a moment, waiting to hear his steps descending.
I couldn't believe this information.
I had to tell Zach.
Now.
I got up and walked to Zach's room, letting myself in.
I felt I was safe to assume he wasn't doing anything in private.
"Oh, yeah, just let yourself in," Zach joked, making me laugh.
But my smile faded. "Zach, I have something to tell you."
Gosh, I'm just the bearer of bad news, huh?
"Okay," he said in a questioning tone, "what's going on?"
I took a deep breath.
I stayed standing as I informed him on what Reece told me straight up. "Ella and Scarlett were talking just now and Ella said that she thought nothing about the hookup."
"Excuse me?" he said, eyes wide.
"She said that you were drunk, she was drunk, and it just didn't matter to her."
"Are you fucking serious?" he spat, furious.
"Yeah, I'm sorry."
"I'm such a fucking idiot, Jesus!"
"No you aren't," I comforted, "really."
"No, but I am, Gabe. I tell you the same shit every time something like this happens. I'm dumb," he threw something from his desk at the wall.
I wasn't sure how he'd react, but rage is definitely the emotion right now.
"I want to be alone," he said, "but thanks for telling me."
"Sure," I smiled, leaving.
I walked towards Scarlett's door, trying to hear something, anything.
All I heard was them giggling.
I sighed, making my way back to my room.
Too many heartbreaks for one house.
