Reece
I was in front of a girl, leaning over her with my arm on the wall. "I'll find you later, babe," I whispered in her ear, setting off in search of the cup pong table. I was bored of entertaining bitches tonight, so I was mainly looking for my brothers, and if I knew them at all, I knew that's where I'd find Max.
"Reece, bro, you've gotta get in on this!" Max exclaimed, sending another ball into a cup.
"Sure," I replied, but something in the corner of the room caught my eye. Hailey was sitting on the couch alone, her head in her hands. It occurred to me that things must have gone poorly with Zach, which I also could deduce based on the fact that when I had gotten home, he was moping in the living room. It's my turn.
"Sorry," I mumbled to Max as I walked away from the table. I sat down next to Hailey, sinking back into the seat and putting my arm over the back. "Hey," I said, causing her to lift her head.
"Hey," she replied. "Reece, right? Zach's brother?"
"Yep," I grinned.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Did Zach actually like me? Or is he hung up on that girl?"
I knew, of course, exactly which girl she meant. And I knew the answer. "You know, he was stupid for using you to get over the girl. But you're great. If he doesn't care about you, there will be a guy who does." I tried not to smirk at my own genius. Thanks for that one, Ella.
"Really? You think?" She asked, looking up at me with big brown eyes.
I shifted closer to her on the couch. "I know," I whispered in her ear. She was blushing hard. "Want to go upstairs?" I asked, taking her hand. She nodded.
Hailey was a great hook up, so much so that I pitied Zach. Not that he could appreciate her—I know he wouldn't have fucked her. He's got that Ella mentality. What a shame.
"When will I see you again?" she asked as I put my shirt back on. Never.
"I'll text you," I replied, and she didn't even question that I didn't have her number.
I kissed her at the door for good measure before joining the crowd, effectively losing her. I ran into girl #2 of the night.
"Reece!" she exclaimed, grabbing my arm. "I've been looking for you."
"Uh," I began, but luckily I was saved by Gabe.
"Reece, I need to steal you for a minute," he said, leading me away.
"You saved me!" I said, pretending to wipe a tear of joy and gratitude. "Thank you."
"Reece, this is serious. Hailey hooked up with Josh."
The urge to laugh was not easily suppressed, but it had to be done. "No way," I replied, eyes wide.
"Yeah, like 10 minutes ago I saw her walk out of a room after they had been flirting all night," he explained. So it was definitely not true, but this worked out for me.
"Oh yeah," I lied, "I saw them flirting and all over each other."
"Right!" he said. "We have to tell Zach and Scarlett. They'll be crushed, but they have to know."
"You have to. They wouldn't believe it coming from me."
He thought about it. "You're right. If you see either, say that I'm looking for them."
"Will do," I said.
Separating from him, I decided my new job was to tell everyone else except them. If this was the rumor going around, that'd be perfect.
Look, getting with Hailey was pretty dirty of me. I'm not trying to have Clay and Noah level issues with Zach. Well maybe a little. He took Ella back, so I needed to do something.
But I also didn't want him to know—I was satisfied secretly having taken his bitch.
I found Max again, joining him for a couple rounds and telling him about Hailey and Josh. Next, I got a hold of Liam, who was shocked and concerned for our siblings, as was Brandon when I saw him. Noah was with a girl and didn't even give me a chance to tell him what happened, and I had a similar experience with Corey. I couldn't find Clay, though I was dying to know who his girl of the night was.
When Gabe found me again, it was time to go home, and I felt fantastic. Tonight was a win!
