Ella
One of the things we had always wanted to do with Gage and Parker was go to an amusement park, but somehow we never got around to it. But it was a nice day out, so we decided to check that off of our bucket list.
I'm not a big roller coaster person, but I was still super excited. After a full day of trying every single ride, we sat down to get something to eat and chat. Scarlett and I split a funnel cake.
"How are you feeling after everything, Ella?" Gage asked, eyebrows furrowed.
I shrugged. "I cried it all out. I feel fine now."
"Guys, look at this," Parker said. It was a very blurry image that clearly had been zoomed in too far, but the culprits were obvious. Kane actually got with Josie last night.
"Wow. That's so random," Scarlett said.
"Hope you're not jealous," Gage teased. It was a relief that he took the rumor well. It really could have gone either way.
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "Maybe a little," she joked.
"Oh my God, I'm going to throw up," Parker gasped, whipping his phone around again. It was a mirror selfie of Trevor and Fiona, his hand right on her ass. She had posted it to her story.
"Gross!" I exclaimed, giggling. "How do you feel about that?" I asked.
"It's whatever. We broke up so long ago, but come on, Trevor?"
We nodded in sympathy. "At least you didn't kiss him!" I laughed, and Scarlett pretended to gag.
"I give him like a 2 out of 10. I don't recommend it." She looked like she was having flashbacks.
"Yeah, Parker, don't worry. She's downgrading."
The table was silent for a little before Gage said, "You know guys, I'm really happy that we're all friends again. It warms my heart." Frowning, he pretended to wipe a tear from his cheek.
"Yeah," I agreed, "today has been really fun."
As if the universe could not let me have one nice thing, I saw Reece out of the corner of my eye and gasped. What are the odds? Better yet, he was with a girl. I recognized her; it was Gracie. She's in my statistics class. She's pretty, but I don't think she's better. Right?
My stomach dropped a little, and the others followed my eyes, their mouths dropping. "Ella, I'm so sorry," Scarlett soothed, instinctively grabbing my hand. "Are you okay?"
I looked around at their faces of pure concern and cracked a smile. "Talk about downgrading!"
They all looked relieved, laughing with me.
"We should go for a second round on all the roller coasters," I suggested. Being the heartbroken one, they had no choice but to do what I wanted, so they stood up and followed. We went in the opposite direction of Reece.
"Will you come to the bathroom with me first?" Scarlett asked.
"Yeah, of course," I said, knowing what she wanted.
"Are you sure you're okay?" she questioned once Parker and Gage had gone to get in line for a ride.
"Yes, I swear I'm alright."
"Okay, but if you ever want to go home, let me know. You were a little...emotional the other day," she offered.
"I want to do all the rides again!"
"Whatever you say," she giggled. She started walking towards the boys again, but I grabbed her wrist.
"Wait. I know we've talked a lot about honesty and how you want me to tell you about stuff with your brothers, so—"
"You're joking! Is it Gabe? Brandon? Clay? Oh God, please don't let it be Clay!" she begged, shaking my shoulders.
Laughing, I clarified, "no, there's no new brother. Actually, I feel kind of awkward even saying it because I don't think I've admitted it to myself."
"Spit it out!"
"I think I'm still in love with Zach. That's why Reece doesn't bother me."
"Oh shit," she said, eyes wide. Then she relaxed. "Who am I kidding, of course you're still in love with Zach!"
I swatted her arm. "Shut up!"
"Are you sure you aren't just saying this because Reece cheated?" she asked.
"I actually realized it before he cheated. Or during. I'm not sure. But at the party." I told her about how he got me water and our talk.
"Wow. What are you going to do?"
"I have no idea."
"You have to make a move!" she insisted. "You're meant to be."
"I hope he still thinks so," I sighed.
"We'll talk about it later. This has been the longest bathroom break of all time, except for that time you got with Reece at the club in Spain," she teased, and I swatted her arm again. "Let's go have fun!" she cheered, grabbing my hand and leading me off.
