Being a woman herself, Jennie had to admit that the woman's eyes were truly attractive. In fact, she looked gorgeous. To be more specific, she had an... exquisite face.
A look that she could not possibly forget after just a single glance. Jennie quickly went through her memories, yet, she could not recall who the woman was. She wondered if she had seen this woman before, or if she had known her before.
"You..." Jennie gave up after racking her brain for some time. She looked up and asked, "Do I know you?"
The woman was Park Shin-hye. She was coincidentally shopping nearby. When she heard Jennie's reply, she froze. The next moment, she seemed to have thought of something. She heaved a sigh, pretending to look sad and said, "Jennie, have you forgotten about me so soon? You're right. After all, we've just met each other hastily during your wedding. After that, I went overseas and since then, we've never seen each other. So, it's only natural that you won't remember me."
'My wedding? So, could she be one of the guests during the banquet, or is she one of Lisa's relatives?'
Jennie's mind raced. However, she showed an apologetic look on the surface, "So, that's how it is. I was in a hurry during the wedding. Moreover, it's been a long while and throughout these years, I've experienced many upsetting events. So, my memory failed me. May I know are you..."
Jennie's words were a bit far-reaching. Yet, it was a fact. As far as she could recall from the original owner's memory, the so-called wedding was nothing but chaotic as well as pathetic.
On the surface, the wedding looked lively. In truth, not many people congratulated them sincerely. Above all, the original owner had her eyes glued to Lisa throughout the entire night. It was certainly a rare phenomenon if she paid attention to others even once at that time.
Unfortunately, no matter how long she stared at him, Lisa did not enter her room that night. She waited all alone in the empty boudoir throughout the night.
Meanwhile, Jennie's words instantly alerted Shin-hye, 'Experienced a lot of upsetting events throughout the years?' Did her daughter-in-law just refer to her days in the Manoban Family as a hardship?
It was over. She had found her life staying with Lisa to be miserable. She must have had a very poor impression of him now, much less court her!
Shin-hye had never expected to bump into Jennie today.
She initially thought about coming to this area to collect her stuff. However, when she got out of the car, she coincidentally saw Jennie carrying Leo out of her car.
Shin-hye had basically gone through Jennie's various reports lately. So, she instinctively identified the lady opposite her as her daughter-in-law, er... ex-daughter-in-law, at a single glance.
So, was the child in her daughter-in-law's arms her own grandchild?!
After Shin-hye identified them, she instinctively tailed them. She saw with her own eyes from afar that Jennie had handed over the child to the kindergarten teacher. Then, she saw Jennie quietly hide to the side and watch the child mingled with others in the kindergarten. The child did not show the slightest bit of discomfort, nor cry for his mother. Only then did Jennie turn back and leave.
The child's cuteness was beyond Shin-hye's expectations. likewise, Jennie's interaction with her child had also greatly surpassed her expectations.
She had received the information from the old butler that over the past, Jennie was not close with her son. Not only was she not close with him, but the woman had also treated her son as a bargaining chip in order to keep hold of her son. However, once the woman realized her son no longer served his purpose, she tossed him aside without hesitation.
Today, what she saw with her own eyes totally contradicted what she had heard.
Jennie was watching Leo playing happily in the kindergarten while Shin-hye was watching Jennie and the child in the kindergarten from afar. Shin-hye unwittingly got lost in her thoughts.
By the time she returned to her senses, she saw Jennie about to get into her car and leave the place. Without giving a second thought, Shin-hye immediately called Jennie.
Shin-hye looked embarrassed after hearing Jennie's words. She faked a cough and said, "I'm Lisa's mother. In other words, I'm also your... former mother-in-law."
'What?!' Jennie was completely shocked by Shin-hye's words. So, this woman was that guy's mother as well as her former mother-in-law?! But, she had just replied to her that she did not know her!
Fine, Shin-hye could not blame her, after all. Over the past four years since the previous Jennie was married, she had only seen her "mother-in-law" once. Moreover, their meetup was nothing short of awkwardness and resentment, much less through her current self.
Ever since she openly fought with Jung Tae, Jennie found that the memories originally belonging to this body were fading slowly while those belonging to her own past were becoming clear.
Jennie did not know if the changes were good or bad. However, she undeniably felt more relaxed. Ever since that day, she did not know if it was her own illusion, but she always felt the invisible chains imprisoning her slowly disappearing.
Jennie froze for some time before she recovered her senses. Looking at Shin-hye's youthful and beautiful face, it was hard to believe that this woman had a son in his twenties. More so, her son was the ever stoic Lisa!
"Er... So, it's you. I'm sorry. I had an excessive blood loss at home once, resulting in a period of oxygen deprivation in the brain. Therefore, I couldn't remember clearly some of the things in the past. I didn't wipe you out of my memory on purpose."
Jennie was not an unreasonable woman. Although she disliked Lisa, she would not vent out her discontentment to an elderly whom she had only met once.
Shin-hye knew that she could not blame this on Jennie either. After all, she had also treated her daughter-in-law as a nobody which resulted in today's state. One, it was because of Lisa's attitude toward her. Two, it was also because of the incident that happened four years ago.
Lisa was Shin-hye's only child. She had been doting on him ever since young. She had never thought of using his son's marriage to maintain or improve the family's strength. With their identities and background, they simply did not have the need to do so.
Therefore, she had hoped that her son would marry a girl whom he was in love with. Then, the two could give birth to a child and live happily ever after.
However, this woman had drugged her son in the name of love and even set her son up to conceive a child unexpectedly. Her son had even suffered from a certain unspeakable... hidden disease ever since then. As such, this had triggered her taboo.
Most importantly, the former master had insisted on her son to marry the woman under circumstances wherein everyone clearly knew that she was not suitable for her son. Therefore, she became even more frustrated. After attending their wedding, she was so angry that she flew overseas and never returned even after her grandson was born.
