Eunwoo opened his mouth and tried to say something. However, he found himself unable to refute her at all after hearing her answer. He could only begrudgingly keep his silence.
Jennie did not plan to continue being pestered by Eunwoo, so she put the teacup back on the table and said indifferently, "Do you guys have anything else to ask?"
"As for the people who chased after you this time, do you still remember their faces, Ms. Kim?"
Jennie raised her head to look at Eunwoo. Then, she chuckled and said, "Officer Cha, I think you shouldn't ask me this question. As far as I know, you are holding one of them in the police station. Compared to me, I think that person should have a deeper impression on his companions, whom he gets along with all the time."
Eunwoo was speechless, but soon, he found another reason. "You're right, Ms. Kim. But you also just said that that person is an accomplice of those people. In that case, who could guarantee that he would not give false information to buy some time? So, it's better to ask other witnesses to be on the safe side."
"What you said is indeed reasonable, Officer Cha. But shouldn't it be your duty to make these people tell the truth?"
"This..."
"Of course, the most important reason is that I... forgot."
Eunwoo was stunned. He stared at the person opposite him in surprise. "You forgot?"
"Yeah, I forgot." Jennie admitted it without skipping a beat. "Even if you didn't personally experience the situation at that time, you should be able to imagine as well. There were so many tall and muscular men surrounding me, a weak girl, with weapons. I didn't even have time to escape, let alone remember each of their faces leisurely."
Haruto was speechless. 'Hey, which part of you look like a weak woman? Besides, if you're really a weak woman, don't shoot someone's shoulder blade.'
Haruto shuddered inexplicably when he recalled the bedridden prisoner who was still in the intensive care unit.
Eunwoo was speechless once again when he heard Jennie's answer. He wanted to get angry, but whenever he saw Jennie's face pretending to be scared, he always felt like he was bullying a girl. It felt extremely frustrating.
The line of questioning was abruptly ended. Eunwoo pondered for a moment. He refused to give up and asked, "Last question. Do you have any conflict with someone or have you offended someone recently?"
Jennie muttered, "Have a conflict with someone? To be honest, there's a lot."
Eunwoo's eyes slightly brightened. He quickly asked, "Ms. Kim, please be more specific."
Jennie frowned and thought for a while. Then, she said softly, "Uh, you should know my current identity, Officer Cha. Besides, I have just recently joined the family business as the general manager. It is inevitable to make enemies in a high position. This is beyond my control. As for disputes, I can't really say who. If you want to know, you should investigate it by yourself, Officer Cha. I believe that with the abilities of the police officers, it shouldn't be difficult to check such a little thing."
Now, it was not clear who the person who wanted to kill her was. She was not that stupid to shoot herself in the foot.
There were indeed many people who had conflicts with Jennie. Since she joined the Kim Enterprise, Su Gyeom, Ji-yeon, Jung Tae, and Yu-min had butted heads with her.
In particular, the time she had a fight with Ji-yeon and her son. It was so intense that it spread throughout the whole company.
But Jennie also understood that there was still someone behind Ji-yeon. If she really gave him her name, it was not impossible to be accused of a false accusation by her if it was truly not her.
So, it was better to be vague about this and let some people check it themselves to be safe.
Eunwoo could sense the perfunctory use of Jennie's words. He wanted to ask more questions, but he heard Jennie say, "Officer Cha, just now you said that it was the last question."
Eunwoo could not say what he wanted to say, so he returned to his seat angrily.
A trace of sarcasm flashed in Jennie's eyes. She turned her gaze to Mu Chan, who had been silently taking notes on the side. The indifference and coldness that were hidden in her eyes instantly faded away. She smiled and asked, "Officer Watanabe, is there anything else you want to ask?"
Eunwoo sat up straight when he heard that. He seemed to want to signal Haruto, but he kept quiet after being stared at by Jennie's cold eyes.
Haruto was stunned. He raised his head to look at the woman in front of him, whom he inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity. After seeing the mix of tolerance and impatience that was deep in her eyes, he subconsciously shook his head even when he knew that he should seize this opportunity to ask a few more questions at this time.
The corners of Jennie's mouth curled up happily. "In this case, Officer Watanabe just said that there are other things to handle, so you guys can go back first."
Eunwoo pursed his lips unwillingly. He closed the transcript in his hand and got up. Then, he extended his hand and said, "We will leave first then. Thank you for your cooperation today, Ms. Kim. If there is any other news, we will inform you as soon as possible."
Jennie ignored Eunwoo's hand that was stretched toward her. She moved without a trace and held Haruto's hand. Then, she said with a smile, "Well, thank you for your hard work."
Eunwoo's hand that was extended out froze in the air just like this. After a while, he was like awakening from a dream and slowly put his hand down to the side of his body. Then, he clenched his fists.
Jennie did not ask Uncle Kim to send them out. She personally sent them out instead. This was all in order to get along with Haruto for a while more.
"I remember hearing from Sister Jennie that you guys are police officers of the SWAT team, right? Is it possible that the SWAT team has changed its function and is starting to take care of things like this?" Jennie took advantage of the time when Eunwoo went to pick the car up, she finally asked the question that had been lingering in her mind since she saw Haruto.
Haruto was stunned when he heard that. Then, he raised his head and laughed embarrassedly, He said, "No, I'm no longer in the SWAT team. I'm just an ordinary policeman."
"Huh? Why?" Jennie raised her eyebrows. She did not forget how determined he was when he was in the military academy. No matter how her mother persuaded him, he still wanted to be a member of the SWAT team. He was extremely stubborn, so why did he suddenly change?
Jennie's question made Haruto even more embarrassed. He hesitated and finally told the truth.
"Well, you also know that Sister Jen passed away because she was a member of the SWAT team. After that, I understood a lot of things. Although I like this profession very much, I'm no longer alone like before. Even if it's not for myself, I have to live well for my family as well. I don't want my family to suffer the pain I experienced when I lost Sister Jen.. So, Karina and I submitted an application and transferred to our current positions after we caught the criminal who killed Sister Jen."
