This was Jennie's first time discovering that her not-exactly-mother had soprano potential. She instinctively stretched out her hands to cover her ears. She turned back, and she glared at Xiao Jingyao angrily.

The moment Xiao Jingyao met Jennie's gaze, he immediately looked away. He looked at the ceiling, floor, and various things in the house, except meeting Jennie's eyes.

Jennie was so angry that she silently gave him the middle finger. What was with a man who was hard on the outside and soft on the inside?! How annoying he was!

"Jennie, what did you say just now? I think I must have misheard it, right?" After Min-a finished screaming, she hurriedly grabbed Jennie's hand, and she asked her expectantly.

She hoped she could get a negative answer from Jennie. Unfortunately...

Jennie was put in a difficult position. She giggled twice in embarrassment, and she said helplessly, "Mother, you didn't hear me wrongly. I said, I'm going to take care of Lisa in the hospital tomorrow. Moreover, I'll have to take care of him in the next few days..."

Min-a's last ray of hope was shattered. She did not feel good at all.

In her eyes, Lisa was synonymous with a beast. Yet, her daughter was about to offer herself to a wolf in sheep's clothing. How could she not feel broken?!

"Jennie, why do you... want to take care of that man all of a sudden? By the way, he's in the hospital? President Manoban is staying in the hospital?"

Jennie paused. Then, she nodded. She briefly told her the reason why Lisa was in the hospital.

When Min-a knew the reason Lisa stayed in the hospital was because he had taken a bullet for Jennie, and if he had not blocked the bullets for her, that bullet would have hit Jennie. She became more terrified.

On the contrary, the remaining masters left in the house had different views.

"Min-a, look, the guy from the Manoban Family has taken the bullet for Jennie regardless of his own safety. It's evident that he regrets his actions, and he wanted to court Jennie all over again. How about... giving him a chance to turn over a new leave...?" The former master was the first to speak while grinning.

Right after the former master spoke, Woobin got the hint from him, and he played along with him, "If a man could lay down his life for the sake of a woman, he is truly sincere to her."

Seeing the two bosses had said so, Xiao Jingyao pushed the glasses on the bridge of his nose. He naturally played along with them, and he said, "likewise, I have the same thought too."

Jennie stared warily at the three people who had abruptly worked in unison. She wondered when did the three men become so cooperative without her knowledge. Was it true that a single heroic rescue could make them change their perspectives toward that man?

Meanwhile, Min-a was the hardest fortress to take down. Her usual gentle and beautiful face unusually showed a hint of sternness, "What? Do you all think that just because he has given a sugar-coated tablet to her, we could leave Jennie to him, and let him take control of her, right?!"

The three men were tough men who could take on full responsibilities on the outside. However, under Min-a's fierce glare, one of them touched his nose, another pretended to look elsewhere, while another lowered his head and played with his staff. The atmosphere was more than bizarre.

This was Jennie's first time to realize that the one who was in charge of a certain aspect of the family was not the former master. In fact, the person was...

The former master must have realized he had lost face after being pressured by his own daughter-in-law. He faked a cough, and he took the lead, and broke the silence. He said, "Min-a, that is not what we meant. I thought Jennie was already a grown-up. Things like this should be handled by the younger generation on their own. You don't have to worry so much."

Right after the former master spoke, everyone including Min-a shifted their gaze to Jennie, as if asking her what she planned to do next.

This was especially so for the former master and the elders. Their eyes were sparkling with hints of gossip. What was wrong with them? How disrespectable the elders themselves were!

Jennie did not understand why a decent topic like this had progressed in such a bizarre direction. She felt speechless, and she rolled her eyes as she said, "Mother, I'm just there to look after him for a few days only. Why do you have to get so worked up?"

"How could I not be anxious? The Manoban Family has so many members. Why must you be the one, who has nothing to do with them, to go and take care of him? Isn't it obvious they have an ulterior motive?"

"Isn't Madam Manoban hurt too? Mr. Butler has to take care of her for a few days. There's no way Lisa stays in the hospital all alone without someone to look after him."

Right after Jennie spoke, Woobin and the rest locked gazes with each other. They clearly knew that the fact that Lisa stayed in the hospital alone was bizarre.

Jennie, a pseudo-rich child who had appeared in the midst of their lives might not be clear that a great family like them had several powerful family doctors standing by for them in case of any urgency.

Usually, when the family members suffered minor illnesses or pain, they would ask their family doctors to cure them personally. They rarely had a chance to stay in the hospital. As such, everyone apparently knew why Lisa had done so.

However, these men were mere onlookers. They would not be so nosy to the point of commenting on the parties involved. Besides, the parties involved might have known about this themselves. In fact, they could be doing this willingly. So, why did the men have to be the bad guys by committing themselves to an arduous yet fruitless task?

However, Min-a was aware of this.

When she heard Jennie's explanation, Min-a's expression remained tense. In fact, her expression was intensified, "Although Mr. Butler is busy, the Manoban Family has many servants. Are all of them dead?! Why do you have to be the one to look after him, when you've just grazed past life and death?! I disagree with it!"

Jennie seemed to have expected Min-a to react like this. Looking at the woman who reflexively spiked the moment one brought up about Lisa, and was so protective of her, she heaved a sigh. She reached out and held Min-a's cold hand. She said, "Mother, it'll be just fine. I go over there and take care of him for several days only. I take it as returning the favor to him. You know I hate owing someone else's favor. Taking care of him for a few days is like returning the favor to him which is way better than him having something which he could use against me, and perhaps asking for something even worse in the future, right?

Upon hearing this, Min-a grumbled to herself, 'Isn't the request of asking you to be his nanny and take care of him is already way too much?!'

Looking at Min-a's reluctant and silent expression, Jennie guessed what she was thinking. She smiled faintly as she said, "Mother, Lisa is only a human, after all. You can't expect him to swallow me alive, right?"

'Why not? Indeed, I'm afraid he will devour you alive judging from his previous actions. He really has the guts to do so!'

The more Min-a thought of it, the more she felt uneasy. She looked at Jennie, who wore a pleading expression, and she immediately made up her mind. She said, "You may go. I'll go with you tomorrow!"

Jennie fell speechless.

She looked at the three men who were watching a show on the side, and she was speechless.
