Even so, Jennie heaved a sigh of relief because Lisa had diverted their attention. She bent down her body and scooped Leo up. She quickly walked toward the main character of the banquet.
Rosé's eyes sparkled when she saw Jennie walking toward her. She carried her baby in her arms and took the initiative to welcome them.
"Jennie, you're here! You have no idea how happy I was when my aunt told me that you've agreed to attend my banquet!"
Jennie's entire body stiffened. She could not get used to Rosé's over-enthusiasm.
Jennie had already learned of this person and Lisa's actual relationship. She also knew that what had happened in the beginning was all but a misunderstanding. Even so, Jennie inexplicably felt awkward as she faced this woman.
Fortunately, Rosé quickly shifted her attention from Jennie to Leo, whom Jennie was holding in her arms.
"He must be Leo, right? I did not pay much attention to him in the hospital last time. Now that I have gotten a closer look at him, he's really very adorable. How I wish my Dudu would be as cute as Leo."
Knowing that Leo would be attending a banquet today, Min-a had specially prepared a set of child-sized formal wear for him,
Even though Leo looked spirited in his formal wear, he did not give a serious impression to others. In fact, the others found him looking cute in another way. He looked more adorable.
Leo was attracted to the baby in Rosé's arms the moment she walked over to them. He was sizing the soft little creature up curiously with his large eyes to the extent that he had remained unaware even when Rosé greeted him.
At the same time, the baby had just woken up not long ago. He was looking around with his bright eyes. The two children's gazes met each other unexpectedly.
Soon, Rosé and Jennie also realized this. Rosé asked with a smile, "Leo, do you like babies? Do you want to touch him?"
"Touch him?" Leo was stunned. He looked at the baby in Rosé's arms and took another look at Jennie. A hint of expectation appeared in his eyes.
When Jennie saw this, she smiled. She asked him in a low voice, "Leo, do you want to touch the baby?"
Leo hesitated for a while. Then, he nodded his head slowly.
"Leo, you have to be more careful. The baby has just been born, and his skin is very soft and tender. He easily gets injured if you exert too much force."
Upon hearing Jennie's words, Leo immediately nodded his head and said warily, "I would touch the baby lightly, so I wouldn't hurt him."
Only then did Jennie place Leo down on the ground with a smile. Rosé also cooperated by lowering the baby, who had just made some utterances, so that Leo could touch him.
As Leo watched the baby in close proximity, he hesitated in place for a while before he carefully stretched out his hand to touch the baby's face.
It was soft, smooth and warm. It was so comfortable to touch! These were the only descriptions Leo could think of to describe the sensation when he touched the baby's face.
Miraculously, the baby who had been hard to deal with was surprisingly well-behaved this time. He stared quietly at the big brother whom he met for the first time, and let him touch his face.
Rosé was caught by surprise. One had to know that when her niece, who was a fiend in human form was about to touch her baby, the moment she stretched out her hand, the baby cried so loudly and it had lasted for about half an hour. Regardless of who had coaxed him, none of them worked. He stopped crying only when his voice turned hoarse.
When it came to Leo, the baby was very well-behaved. No matter how Leo touched him, he did not cry. In fact, he sized Leo up curiously with his clear, bright eyes.
What was even more surprising was that after Leo finished touching the baby's face and was about to pull his hands away, the baby, who had lost the sensation of the comfortable touch on his face, could not get used to it.
He waved and reached out to Leo with his short little hand. He held Leo's hand that he was about to pull away.
Rosé and Jennie never thought the incident would turn out to be like this. They were stunned for a moment. Leo's entire body turned stiff. With one of his hands in the baby's arm, he did not know if he should pull his arm away. He turned his head around and looked at Jennie pitifully. Jennie was amused as she watched his pitiful look.
She bent down and kissed her precious son. She comforted him in a low voice, "Don't be nervous. The baby likes you, that's why he is holding onto you."
Upon hearing Jennie's words, Rosé quickly played along with her and said, "That's right, the baby likes you a lot, Leo. If you were someone else, he would not have been that well-behaved, much less reluctant to let go of their hands when they are about to pull their hand away. It looks like fate has brought Leo and Dudu together!"
When Leo heard the two mothers say so, and that the baby was holding onto his hand and sizing his hand up curiously, Leo did not find this displeased. He could not help but feel more at ease and smiled at the baby very cutely.
However, what happened next was something that would catch all of them off guard.
The baby played with Leo's hand for a while. Suddenly, he opened his mouth and put Leo's finger in his mouth.
"Ahhh! Mommy, the baby is eating my finger!" When Leo saw this, he screamed in shock.
Both Rosé and Jennie froze at the sight. After that, the duo burst into laughter at the same time.
Leo looked at the two in puzzlement. A hint of aggrievedness appeared in his eyes. How could his mother laugh when the baby was eating his finger?
Leo had reflexively wanted to pull his hand away the moment the baby put his finger in his mouth. However, when he recalled Jennie's advice that the baby was still very young, soft and tender, the baby might get hurt if he exerted too much force.
As such, he suppressed the urge of pulling his hand away. Now, Jennie had not only not lent him any of her help, but she also let out a bark of laughter. Leo grew increasingly aggrieved.
Leo closed his eyes in despair and let the baby bite his finger. However, he did not feel the pain as he had been expecting. In fact...
Eh? Why was the inside of the baby's mouth so soft?
Leo opened his eyes once again and looked at the baby holding on one of his fingers curiously. The baby was suckling on it with great pleasure.
Jennie laughed for a long time before she stopped. She seemed to have read Leo's mind. She could not help but reach out and pinched Leo's small face. She explained to him, "Leo, are you afraid that the baby would bite you? The baby was just born a month ago. He doesn't have teeth yet. You wouldn't feel hurt even if he bites you. Also, have you eaten the butter cookies from Grandma's afternoon tea in secret before you came here?"
Leo widened his eyes and looked at Jennie incredulously. His staring eyes were akin to saying how she knew that he had secretly eaten Grandma's butter cookies.
The expression on Leo's face was so obvious that the two adults could not help but let out a bark of laughter once again.
"Oh, so you have secretly eaten butter cookies before you came here, huh? No wonder..."
"No wonder what?" When Leo heard Rosé's words, he blinked his eyes in puzzlement and asked in a child's voice.
Looking at Leo's large eyes filled with curiosity, Rosé grinned as she said, "No wonder the baby found your finger so tasty. It's because of the taste of butter on your finger, Leo.."
