Chapter 15 - Lunch meet

Jhoanna's POV:

My persistent and playful friends dragged me to the mall against my will. Even if I declined their offer, they wouldn't leave me alone, so I had no choice. Even though I had a lot of work to do at the office, they wouldn't let up.

Of course, they also forced my annoying secretary to come along.

Naturally, my friends were up to mischief, and they agreed to seat me next to my secretary.

And here we go again, with them discussing our fake relationship.

Sheki: "Nicolette, how did you manage to get a sweet 'yes' from your grumpy Boss?" My secretary hesitates to smile, it's an indication that she doesn't know how to respond and she's not comfortable being asked about a relationship that isn't real.

One thing I've noticed about her is that when she's not comfortable, she'll just smile and scratch the back of her head.

Colet: “A-ahmm.....It's....It's hard to explain po kasi eh hehe.” Mukhang wala siyang maisip na palusot sa mga kaibigan ko.

Bwiset na babaeng toh, kung makipagsagutan sa akin, hindi nauubusan ng salita. Pero 'pag ganitong mga tanong, nauutal tapos wala pang maisagot.

I just ignored them and focused on my food. But Ate Sheki's questions were really attention-grabbing.

Sheki: “Alam naming it's hard talaga to explain the kasungitan of your boss, but how did you court her?”

Ayan, bahala ka na dyan Colet. Hindi ka talaga titigilan ng mga 'yan.

Colet: “W-well....I bought her favorite snacks during miryenda. Mga simpleng bagay lang. She's not hard to please naman po.” She said kaya napatingin ako dito. She actually does that everyday. As in walang palya. And I wonder why, because she's using her money for that.

Stacey: “Totoo buh?! Na hindi mahirap i-please ang isang Jhoanna Robles?!” Dahilan para magtawanan ang lahat. Stacey's right, I am not easy to please.

Gwen: "Are you serious about that, Ate Colet? I practically begged on my knees for her just to get approval for my request."

Brei: “Kulang nalang lumuha kami ng dugo para lang mapagbigyan. Iba talaga ang nagagawa ng mga type ni Jho. Napapa-oo agad.” Ang lakas talaga nila mang-asar. Kuhang-kuha yung kiliti ng pagka-inis ko.

Colet: "Maybe she was just swayed by my charms. Is that it, Babu?" She said, teasingly looking at me. It seems like they're fully embracing the mischief now.

“Ulul. Charms, charms ka pang nalalaman. Ang panget mo kaya. Taas ng confidence mo, mayabang ka lang talaga.” Balik na tugon ko rito.

Maloi: “BEH?! 'YAN?! PANGET?! Paki-palitan nga 'yang eye glasses mo!”

Aiah: “Ang sweet niyo talaga. Oo ang sweet talaga.”

Mikha: “Love language nila 'yan, Love.”

They were just teasing each other while eating, not minding their surroundings. Fortunately, our table was tucked away in a hidden corner.

My secretary seemed to be getting more comfortable now that they weren't bombarding her with questions and were just joking around.

Gwen: "U-uhhmm, guys." She spoke up, causing everyone to stop eating and look her way. There was hesitation written all over her face.

Colet's POV:

Gwen: “A-ahm. Pupunta dito y-yung Girlfriend ko. Ipapakilala ko na sa i-inyo.” Sambit nito at yumuko bago tumingin sa pwesto. Kaya naman tinanguan ko lang ito.
