Chapter 47 - Cry

Third person POV:

While Jhoanna is still in the chapel together with her parents praying for her suitor's health, Colet's parents arrive.

Upon learning the news at the company, Jhoanna's parents immediately called Colet's parents to inquire about their daughter's condition. The couple rushed to the hospital without delay.

Sheena could hardly accompany them as she stayed behind to watch over Jasmine, who was unaware of what had happened to her sister, Colet.

As the Vergara couple entered the hospital, they headed straight to the ICU, where they found two of the Robles family's bodyguards.

They were about to approach them to ask about the Robles family when coincidentally, the Robles family emerged from the Chapel. This led to a meeting between the two families.

Jhoanna: “Tito, Tita. I-I am s-sorry po.” Asking for forgiveness, tears continued to flow from Jhoanna's eyes.

Jhoanna approached the couple and knelt in front of them, repeatedly asking for forgiveness. Mrs. Vergara immediately hugged Jhoanna tightly, while Mr. Vergara gently stroked her back.

Jhoanna: “Sorry p-po, s-sana pala hindi ko na s-siya pinababa s-sa office. D-dapat po sinamahan k-ko nalang po siya. K-kasalanan ko po kung bakit s-siya napahamak. Pasensya na p-po.” She just keep on crying and blaming herself for what happened to Colet.

Mrs. Vergara: “Shhh, anak. Wala kang kasalanan. 'Wag mo sisihin ang sarili mo. Walang may gusto sa nangyari.” Mrs. Vergara spoke to Jhoanna while shedding tears and feeling compassion for what she was witnessing. She quickly helped Jhoanna stand up from her kneeling position.

Mr. Vergara: “Hindi ka namin sinisisi, Ija. Hindi kami galit sa'yo. Malakas si Colet, kakayanin niya 'to. Kakayanin niyo ito, tiwala lang anak.” Malumanay na usap nito.

Jhoanna: “D-dapat po pinilit k-ko nalang po siyang umuwi sa i-inyo. H-hindi ko na dapat p-po siya hinayaang bumili mag-isa. Hindi p-po dapat nangyari 'to. P-pasensya na po.” Patuloy na pag-iyak nito habang mahigpit ang hawak sa kamay ng mga magulang ni Colet.

Mr. Vergara: “Tahan na, Ija. Wala kang kasalanan. You don't have to apologize, Ija.” At agad na pinahid ang mga luha ni Jhoanna mula sa pisngi nito.

Mrs. Vergara: “Sa halip na sisihin mo ang sarili mo, magpakatatag ka, Ija. Colet needs you to be strong. Kung nandito lang siya ngayon, hindi niya magugustuhan ang makikita niya.”

Just then, the doctor emerged from the ICU where Colet was admitted. This diverted the attention of both families to the doctor.

Mr. Vergara: “Doc, I'm the father of the patient. Kamusta po ang kalagayan ng anak ko?” Halos nanlulumong tanong nito.

Doctor: “As of the moment, we're still running some test lalo na't wala pa rin po siyang malay.” Kalmadong wika ng doktor ngunit bakas dito ang pagod mula sa ginawang operasyon.

Mrs. Vergara: “Pwede na po ba namin siyang makita?”

Doctor: “Sad to say we can't allow visitors to enter the room. I'll be honest with you, maselan po ang sitwasyon ng anak niyo. But rest assured that we will do what we can.” Upon hearing the doctor's explanation, Jhoanna felt her knees went numb and started to cry again.

Mr. Vergara: “A-ano po ang ibig niyong sabihin?” Kabadong tanong nito sa doctor.

Doctor: “She was shot twice, both of the bullets ay tumama sa bandang dibdib nito. We already remove the first bullet, the risky bullet.” Bumuntong hininga muna ito bago ituloy ang kanyang pahayag.
