Jhoanna's POV:
Colet entered the room as I was working on documentation for some project proposals for the company. She was carrying a paper bag and two boxes of pizza.
She approached me and kissed me on the cheek as if it is a common thing in the world that we are accustomed to.
Colet: “I brought something for you. I know your stomach is grumbling na kaya bumili ako ng favorite mo.” She said while preparing the snacks on the table, in front of me.
“Yeah, I'm so hungry. But I just can't seem to stop working on this document. I need to finish it.”
Colet: “Of course you can stop. Because if you won't, I will throw everything away kapag hindi ka pa kumain ngayon.” She walked into the mini kitchen to get plates and utensils before she sat next to me.
She grabbed the bucket out of the paper bag and placed it in front of me. She bought me different flavors of mojos which are my favorites.
“Thank you.” She handed me a mojo before she grabbed a slice of pizza for her, and we both started munching.
“Uhm. Babu.” I spoke in a low tone of voice. My tone of voice appears to be lacking in confidence. I need to tell her something important.
Colet: “Ano 'yon?”
“Uhm.... I had a talk with Daddy the other day. And he wants you to resign from your position at the company.” She looked at me stunned, was not sure what to say and wondered if she fully comprehended my words.
“Daddy no longer wants you to be my secretary. He wants to promote you to a better position, a higher position.” I confronted her calmly. I'm not sure what her reaction will be. If she will be happy, offended, or anything else.
Colet: “I appreciate everything your Daddy is offering for me. But I don't believe I'm capable of it. I don't think I'm good enough to be promoted to a higher position.” She explained while eating pizza.
“Honestly, I was the one who suggested it to Daddy. The idea of offering you another office in the company. I was actually hesitant to tell you about this since you could interpret it negatively. I didn't make the suggestion only because you're my girlfriend. I did it because I saw your potential, and Daddy agreed.” I explained to her detailed and clear.
Colet: “But, Babu, I have only been with the company for a short time. I mean, there are people who are more deserving of the position you're referring to than I am.” She continues to reject the offer.
“It was never an issue at work. People are open to their respective appointments and changes in their position.”
Colet: “I'm afraid I'm not the right fit for the job. I may not be able to do credit to what you intend me to do.”
“There's no need to worry, Babu. We do not expect you to excel at your work right away. Everything is a learning experience. However, if you excel, it will benefit the company as a whole.”
Colet: “I'm not sure where you got such blind faith in me and my capacities.”
“Take it as a challenge nalang. I thought you're a person with full of confidence?! Anyare na? HAHAHA”
Colet: “If it's a kulitan at harutan conversation, of course there's nothing to back down. But we are talking about the company. Are you really sure about your decisions? This is not a challenge, Babu, it felt like a life and death situation.”
“Besides, it's up to Daddy to explain everything to you. Perhaps if he's the one you're speaking with, you'll be able to make your point more effectively. After all, he always has the final say. So I'll just hand it over to him.” She pouted after learning my father's decision that made me laugh because of her reaction.
