I felt a little uneasy as I passed through the gate of the high school, giving the guard a nod as I did. I'm not sure why I suddenly felt nervous, but for some reason, I just did. It's different from the usual feeling where it seems like I'm being watched, it feels more like the times where I'm risking something really important.

Maybe I'm just tense about working two jobs at the same time . . .

I raised my head and looked up, only to see Byron a few steps away from the office door, with his back turned on me. I tilt my head in confusion as I saw the phone he held on the side of his face, I haven't seen him talking on his phone before, I didn't even think he owned one.

As I got closer, I couldn't help but hear his conversation with the person on the other end. Who could it be?

"-Just now?" Byron said in a quiet tone, as usual. "The college? Why?" He added, sounding perplexed.

"Hel-" I was just about to greet him when he spoke once again.

"Alright." Byron lifted his other hand and pinched the bridge of his nose, out of frustration, it seems, "Thanks for letting me know, I'll see you later." Byron said before putting the phone in his pocket. He rubbed his face as he took in a big breath before letting it out with a sigh.

This is also the first time I've seen him this vexed. I wonder if something happened to the college just after I left. Who was that anyway? I thought Rachel said Byron doesn't have anyone-Well, I mean, it's not my business, but I'm just curious. I haven't even been able to bother Byron so much that he'll react that way.

Why are they meeting each other later? Furthermore, Byron was the one who said they'll 'see each other later'. A friend, perhaps? A lady friend? Say what?

My thoughts stopped when Byron turned to me, probably to go back in the office. His face was plastered with the look of pure shock, "You . . ." He muttered.

"Uh, I was going to say hello, but I didn't want to disturb you and that person . . ." I looked down when his expression didn't change a bit, "I didn't hear anything, I have no idea what you were talking about, I just got here." I defended, "I-I'll go inside."

I excused myself and went inside the office with a frown, but of course, Byron followed behind me which is why Rachel gave me another knowing look. She should know that Byron may or may not be seeing someone already, and it's definitely not me.

Apparently, everyone was here. I guess our breaks match during this hour, but instead of actually taking a break, they were all busy. I sat down on my chair and did nothing as Byron took his seat across my desk.

He doesn't seem bothered, not even annoyed. Rather, he's acting normally-normally unapproachable. Hmm . . . who was he talking to? Probably someone from the college, right? I haven't met anyone who works at the college yet, but I'm pretty sure there'd be women working there-Oh, crap, come on! I didn't even hear much about their conversation, I can't make assumptions that he's talking to a girl. Besides, it looks like he was just being informed about something, nothing unusual.

Except they are meeting later . . . but, why? Oh! Maybe it was Mrs. Myers, she said she will talk to Byron about the new schedule, yes, that's it!

"Joy, if you keep staring at Byron, he might just crumble into dust." David loudly said, breaking me away from my thoughts.

"Take a picture, Joy." Rachel joined in, earning a smirk from David. Shit.

"I-I was not!" I quickly shot down the idea as I glanced at them, "I was looking out the window!" I gestured. But once I looked at the windows, I realized what a mistake that was when I found out that the curtains were covering them.
