Mariah sat holding Bonnie's hands on the ground in grams's house. After a moment, she opened an eye and looked at Bonnie who was still focusing. She sighed, pulling away
"This isn't working" she complained
"U weren't siphoning" grams told her. Mariah rolled her eyes
"I was trying" she shrugged "r u sure I'm a witch? I mean, what kind of witch is born without magic or their own?" She asked.
"What kind of human has hands that glow?" Bonnie asked
"Maybe im an alien" Mariah smiled jokingly and Bonnie chuckled. Mariah sighed "look..I'd love to learn whatever's going on with me, but I don't think it's gonna happen by holding hands and chanting some weird language..spell thing"
"That's what witches do. We chant, we hold hands, we channel one another" grams chuckled
"Yeah yeah" Mariah stood up and so did Bonnie
"How about this, when ur powers come to u, then u come to me and we'll try again" grams suggested. Mariah nodded
"Ok" she agreed. She leaned in and hugged her "thank you" she told her as she grabbed her things and left the house

Mariah sat at her desk looking in a mirror with a gold chained necklace with a red heart shaped charm on it
"This is beautiful" Mariah told Elena who sat behind her on the bed "where did u get it?" She asked.
"Uh...Stephan" Elena answered "it's a vervain necklace..so vampires can't compel u" she told her. Mariah looked in the mirror and nodded her head
"Well Stephan has good taste" she stated. She looked down before turning to Elena "hey...so...I've been keeping something from u" she told her. Elena furrowed her brows. Mariah stood up and walked over, sitting next to her on the bed. She sighed "Bonnie's grams thinks I'm a witch" she told her. Elena's eyes widened
"A what? A witch?" She asked. Mariah nodded
"Yeah. But the thing ab that is...grams thinks that means u and I are adopted" she told her. Elena's face dropped "which..sucks but..I think it also means u might see some weird witchy hand glowing things too" she told her. Elena looked down. "Elena?" Mariah grabbed her hand "u ok?" She asked. Elena looked at her
"Uhu" she nodded "I uh..I actually have to go shopping. My outfit needs some accessories" she told her before hurrying out
"Elena?!" Mariah called out, watching her leave confused.

"Spoke to the insurance company. Car's totaled. You can keep using mine for now" Jenna told Elena
"So you're coming to the dance?" Elena asked
"Alaric asked me to help chaperone."
"Why didn't you tell me, Jenna?" Elena asked and jenna sighed
"Your mom was gonna do it eventually. I never thought I'd have to."
"If my mom were here right now and I asked, she'd tell me the truth"
"Your dad was about to leave the office one night when this girl showed up. She was sixteen, a runaway, and about to give birth. He delivered her baby, and he gave her a place to stay, but a few days later, she disappeared. And there you were. Your parents were trying so hard to have a baby. I-it just wasn't happening. All Miranda ever wanted was to be a mom"
"Well, why were my parents' names on the birth certificate?"
"Your dad was a doctor, Elena. He took care of it. They didn't wanna lose you, so they kept it quiet, told as few people as possible, but if anyone ever wanted proof, they had documentation."
"What else do you know about her? The girl?"
"Just her name. Isobel."
"And Mariah? Our whole lives we were told we were twins."
"She was found on ur dads offices doorstep the same day isobel disappeared. They didn't know her exact birthdate but..she was only a couple days old so..they gave her ur birthday and kept her too, giving her a birth certificate with ur parents names on it too" she told her
"U don't know anything ab her family?"
"No" Jenna sighed. Elena looked down, sitting down and running her hands through her hair
"I can't believe we aren't actual twins"
"Ur still sisters. And u can say ur twins all u want. Plus..u do look alike. It's believable"
"I guess mom and dad got lucky with that one" she stated, looking down.

It was later that night and Elena and Mariah were getting ready for the decade dance.
"So...this things supposed to tell us if any vampires r near?" Mariah asked as she looked down at the compass
"Yep" Elena nodded, walking into the bathroom
"I rly hope I never see this thing move" Mariah stated. She sighed "hey..have u noticed any..u know..glowing hands..witchy stuff yet?" She asked Elena. Elena stopped walking for a second before continuing to her closet
"Uh...no" she answered "no I haven't" she told her. Mariah sighed
"This is so annoying. I mean, grams says I'm a witch but all I can do is siphon magic from people and I don't know how to control that."
"I'm sure you'll get it eventually" Elena assured her
"Hopefully" Mariah nodded when she noticed the compass moving "uh...Elena. It's moving" she told her. Elena furrowed her brows, moving over and grabbing the compass to see it moving. She grabbed her phone and started to call Stephan as she walked downstairs and Mariah followed
"Stephan's phone" Damon spoke on the other end.
"Where is he?" Elena asked
"He's on his way to u. He forgot his phone" Damon answered. Elena sighed
"Oh thank god. This compass was spinning. Stephan must be here. Thankyou" she told him before hanging up the phone. She whipped her head around at the sound of Mariah scream as the strange vampire threw her across the room "Mariah!" Elena yelled before the vamp tried to bite her. Elena screamed when Stephan pulled the man off of him, throwing him over the couch. Stephan turned to where the attacker was as he sped out of the house.
"U ok?" He asked, pulling Elena into a hug. Elena hugged him briefly before pulling away and running over to Mariah, helping her up off the ground
"Ow" she groaned
"U ok?" Elena asked
"Yeah" Mariah nodded as she held her hip in pain.
