The next day, Mariah walked around the school, picking things up.
"U don't need to be here u know?" Caroline told her "u just lost someone. U can go home, M" she told her. Mariah sighed

"I need something to take my mind off of things, something to focus on" she told her before hearing her phone ring. She pulled it out and looked at the screen to see kols name. She sighed, pressing decline

"What did he do now?" Caroline asked

"Nothing..he actually..slept over last night" Mariah answered as she walked around, picking things up. Caroline looked at her angrily

"U let him into ur house..and then u slept with him?"

"Ok..Caroline. Take a breath. Yes..I let him in but no..we did not sleep with each other ok? He just..he was trying to make me feel better"

"Kol Michealson. An original vampire...was trying to make u feel better?" Caroline asked, not believing it
"Yes, Caroline. Elena hadn't come home yet and I didn't wanna be alone so.."

"So u slept in the same bed?"

"Yeah" Mariah shrugged "and cut the judgment care." She told her. Caroline put her hands up in surrender

"Sorry" she chuckled. "Thats actually..kind of sweet" she admitted. Mariah smiled at her teasingly and care pointed at her "but that doesn't mean I'm on team Kol, alright?" She told her "I just..hate him less" she shrugged. Mariah chuckled

"I'll take it" she told her when Caroline's face dropped. "What's wrong?" She asked when Caroline sped off. Mariah furrowed her brows "Caroline!" She called out.

A few moments later, Mariah was walking through the halls looking for Caroline when her phone rang. She answered it, seeing Caroline's name on it
"Where r u? What's going on?" She asked

"Mariah run!" Caroline yelled "Alaric is alive. He's a vampire. Get out of there!" She yelled before the phone hung up.

"Caroline?" Mariah asked before pulling the phone from her face. She furrowed her brows, looking around her before sprinting away. She ran as fast as she could until she hit a door, she bursted out only to see Alaric "alaric?" She asked. Alaric smiled at her before slamming her head into the wall, knocking her out.

Elena stood in Alarics old bedroom while she painted it. She stopped when she saw a name pop up on her phone. She looked at it to see Alarics name. She furrowed her brows as she answered
"Whoever this is, it's not funny." She spoke

"Well, who else would it be?" Alaric asked and Elena's face dropped

"Ric?" She asked

"Listen closely, I'm at the school, I have Caroline and Mariah, and if you want to keep them alive, I need you to get in your car and come down here right away. If you tell anyone where you are going, I will kill them" alaric threatened as he looked at Caroline who was sat tied to a chair with a vervain gag in her mouth and pencils stabbed into her hands. He then looked at Mariah as she sat tied to the desk next to her. A gag also in her mouth. He took a pencil, walking over to Mariah and stabbing it into her hand. Mariah screamed as Alaric held the phone out so Elena could hear her. He put the phone to his ear again "u better hurry..cause ur sister doesn't heal as quickly" he told Elena before hanging up the phone and Elena quickly rushed to sneak out of the house.

Alaric sat at his desk in front of Mariah and Caroline as the two cried in pain
"Right on time." Alaric stated before seeing Elena appear in the doorway. Elena looked at caroline and Mariah and sighed

"Omg" she spoke shakily. She looked at alaric "let them go, alaric!" She yelled. Elena looked at him wearily before moving over to Mariah quickly. She kneeled down in front of her, looking at the pencil in her hand. "Omg" she whispered as she shakily grabbed it, starting to slowly pull it out. Mariah cried in pain "I'm so sorry" Elena whispered when Alaric slammed the pencil back into Mariah's hand making her scream  "You said that you would let them go!" Elena yelled
