The Deceiving Dance

Mariah stood in front of her floor length mirror wearing a dark orange dress that went to her knees. There were orange beads covering it. She wore her hair in tight curls with her red heart shaped necklace as always, but also a long beaded necklace with it, and some flats. She also wore a orange flower in her hair.
"U look amazing" Elena told her as she stood in the doorway. Mariah turned to see Elena in a white dress similar to hers with similar accessories
"So do u" Mariah smiled
"So..I asked Stephan to go to the dance..r u ok going solo?" Elena asked.
"Uh.." mariah chuckled awkwardly when the doorbell rang.
"That must be Stephan" Elena told her, walking down stairs
"Elena wait" mariah called out, following her down the stairs. She moved in front of her, opening the door. Elena furrowed her brows as she watched Mariah opened the door. The two looked out onto the porch to see Kol standing in a tux with some roses in his hands. He smiled at Mariah
"U look ravashing" he spoke. Mariah smiled
"I know" she told him making him chuckle
"Oh no" Elena shook her head, moving next to Mariah, looking at her "u r not going to go to the dance with him" she told her.
"Well..ur not my mother" Mariah chuckled. She reached out her hand to take the flowers from Kol but Elena grabbed her arm, stopping her
"He's crazy" Elena whispered. Mariah pulled her hand from her
"So are Damon..and Stephan" she told her. She reached out and grabbed the flowers "wait here" she told him, turning and walking to the kitchen. Elena crossed her arms, scoffing
"Look, idk what ur deal is with her, whether ur compelling her or seducing her..I don't rly care, but ur going to stay away from her" she told him angrily. Kol chuckled
"Like my beautiful date said..ur not her mother." He smiled at her
"U better not hurt her" Elena fumed
"I wouldn't dream of it, love" Kol whispered with a smile. He looked passed her as Mariah walked over
"I'm ready" she stated. She looked at Elena "see u at the dance" she told her, stepping outside and Elena grabbed her, pulling her closer
"He's gonna get u killed" she whispered
"He..can hear u" Mariah chuckled "and..Elena..whether u mean to or not..if anyone's gonna get me killed..it'll be u" Mariah told her. Elena's face dropped "I'm sry Elena..but u know I'm right" she told her. She pulled her arm away from Elena and turned to Kol. Kol held out his arm for her to take and Mariah linked hers with his, the two walking to the car. Kol let go of mariah and moved to the passenger side door, opening it for her. Mariah chuckled, rolling her eyes "thank you" she told him as she got into the car. Kol shut the door and turned to Elena who was still standing in the doorway, watching. He smiled at her, waving before moving to the drivers side of the car and getting in. "U know..u don't have to come" mariah told him, laughing slightly "u don't seem like a vampire who cares ab high school experiences"
"Ur right. I don't." Kol told her. He turned and looked at her, glancing at her up and down with a smile "but I'll do anything to spend time with u" he told her. Mariah looked at him, slightly surprised he'd say something like that. She smiled slightly as he started the car and they drove off.

Mariah walked in on kols arm to see everyone dancing, dressed like people from the 20s. Mariah chuckled
"So u seriously weren't alive during the 20s?" She asked
"Actually..I was for ab a week or so" he answered "I sort of remember going to a party of two" he shrugged. Mariah scoffed
"Ur brother is an asshole" she told him. Kol smiled, picking her up and spinning her around as he moved onto the dance floor and Mariah laughed. He set her down, grabbing her hands and starting to spin her around, dancing with her. He smiled big at the happy smile on her face.
"Mariah?" Tyler asked, walking up to the two. The two stopped dancing as Mariah chuckled at Kol
"Tyler? What r u doing here?" She asked. Tyler glanced at Kol
"I..I came back" he answered.
"We'll that's great, Ty. R u here with Caroline?" Mariah asked. Tyler looked at Kol with a furrowed brow, wondering what he was doing with her. He held out his hand
"Hi, I'm tyler" he greeted. Kol smiled, shaking his hand
"Kol...michealson" Kol greeted. Tyler looked at him angrily before looking at Mariah
"Ur here with an original?" He asked her. Mariah sighed, rubbing her face with her hands
"Can u guys just get off my back for like 5 minutes please? All of u r so annoying" Mariah complained. She looked around as a slow song started. She grabbed kols hand "come on" she told him
"No" Tyler told her, grabbing onto kols arm. "She's not going anywhere with u" he fumed at him. Kol smiled, chuckling
"Kol" Mariah objected and Kol glanced at her before looking back at Tyler
"Ur lucky I've already pissed this one off twice and I don't plan on doing it a third" Kol told Tyler "I would take ur hand off of me and scram if I were u" he told him. He moved his arm around Mariah "and don't worry...she's safe with me" he told him. Tyler looked at him angrily
"Tyler" Mariah spoke and Tyler looked at her "go dance with Caroline" she told him. Tyler looked at Kol again before huffing, shaking his head as he turned and walked away. Kol held out his hand for Mariah to take
"Shall we?" He asked. Mariah nodded with a thin smile, taking his hand. Kol pulled her close and wrapped his other arm around her waist as the two swayed to the music.
"I hate that they're together" Elena told Stephan as they danced and Elena watched Mariah with Kol
"Weirdly..I don't think he'd hurt her" Stephan told her.
"Hey" Damon spoke, catching their attention. "The three of us need to talk" he told them and the three walked out of the dance. Jeremy saw them walk away and followed. Mariah looked over, watching them all leave the room and furrowed her brows.
"Can u stay here?" Mariah asked, pulling away "I'll be right back" she told him. Kol shrugged, nodding his head
"I'll be right here" he smiled at her. Mariah smiled, nodding as she walked away.
