The next day, Mariah and Elena stood on the kitchen
"So ur telling me rik is losing his mind?" Mariah asked Elena as they sat in her bedroom
"It says it in this journal. It's what's happened in the past when someone wore the ring. It's like it expires. When u use it past its expiration date"
"U start to go crazy" Mariah finished and Elena nodded. "No" Mariah shook her head, standing up "there is no way" she told her
"M" Elena sighed
"No, there is no way that we have that bad of luck, Elena" Mariah argued. She grabbed her phone and started to leave "there's no way" she told her as she walked out. Elena sighed.

Mariah sat in her porch with tears running down her face as her head laid in her hands.
"M" Elena spoke as she walked out
"We gotta fix it Elena" Mariah told her, raising her head
"We will" Elena assured her, sitting down next to her "Meredith wants to run some medical tests to see if there's anything physically wrong with him. When we get those back, we'll see if Meredith can help him"
"And if she can't?"
"Then we'll try Bonnie"
"We can not bother Bonnie right now, Elena. Not with what's going on with her mom"
"We'll if we don't, we won't have any other options"
"I can get Kol" Mariah suggested and Elena immediately shook her head
"No"
"He said he's spent a lot of time with witches. Maybe he can help"
"No. Mariah. Stay as far away from him as u possibly can. He's dangerous"
"So is Elijah"
"Elijah is no where near as dangerous as Kol"
"I can handle him"
"M. Please. Just stay away from him" Elena asked her. Mariah sighed, rolling her eyes as she nodded her head "I know ur confident in ur magic, but he's still an original. He'll kill u" she told her
"I know" Mariah nodded.

Mariah walked up the the michealsons house and Kol opened the door before she even stepped on the porch, making her jump slightly. He smiled at her
"That was a lot faster then I expected. I thought I'd have to ask a couple dozen more times" he told her, walking out onto the porch as Mariah walked up the steps
"If it were up to me, I wouldn't be here but.."
"But u need help?" He asked with a smug smile
"U said you knew a lot of witches and u know a lot ab magic"
"That's right"
"So..I just wanted to see if u knew anything ab magical rings" she told him. She reached for her bag, pulling out her grimoire and opening it to a page. She turned it and showed him it, pointing at the picture of the ring Alaric wore "do u know anything ab how to remove the effects of something like this ring?" She asked. Kol moved towards her, looking at the book. He looked at her and smiled
"I'll have to think ab it" he told her. Mariah rolled her eyes as she closed the book "but while i think..maybe u could stick around?" He asked
"And do what?" Mariah asked, slightly annoyed. Kol shrugged
"We could go for a walk" he suggested.

The next thing Mariah knew, she was walking through a trial with Kol, holding her bag over her shoulder with her grimoire inside it. As they walked, Mariah looked around her and ahead of her as Kol only looked at her.
"So I know ur a witch..u like red and roses..and that u like movies...tell me more ab u" Kol told her as they walked.
"Why do u wanna know so much ab me?" She asked, furrowing her brows
"When r u gonna stop being so paranoid?" Kol asked
"U wanna know how much I know ab u?" Mariah asked, scoffing slightly "I know that ur an original vampire, u come from a family of lunatics, u were once a witch, and you've known witches..that's it." She told him as she stopped walking and turned to face him.
"Alright.." Kol nodded "so u wanna know more ab me"
"That's not exactly what I meant. I meant..." she started but Kol interrupted her
"I like to have fun" Kol told her "I like to party..I like to travel..England is my favorite place in the world..and...my favorite food..besides people" he stated and Mariah rolled her eyes "would probably be....cake" he smiled.
"Cake?" Mariah chuckled slightly. Kol nodded, smiling at her. Mariah nodded, starting to walk again, Kol following her "I never would have expected that, but ok"
"And what did u expect?"
"Well I didn't rly think ab it, but u seem like the fancy type of guy..so idk..like lobster or shrimp or croissants or something" she shrugged. Kol chuckled, shrugging his shoulders
"I like those things too" he told her. "And yours?" He asked her. Mariah sighed, rolling her eyes as she hid a smile
"I hate to give u the satisfaction..but...mine is also cake" she told him, not looking at him "chocolate..to be exact" Kol smiled
"We'll I guess we have more in common than we thought"
"Settle down. We only like the same desert, were not the same person." Mariah told him and he chuckled. Mariah looked around her "klaus spent so much time on that house and rly just completely neglected the trails" she stated, looking around her at the grass patches and dead grass patches and dirt all over the place.
"Well..he's a busy man" Kol shrugged
"U mind?" Mariah asked, holding out her hand towards him. Kol furrowed his brows slightly, looking down at her hand before nodding his head. Mariah placed her hand on his arm, siphoning him. She pulled away and moved in front of him. She held out her arms, closing her eyes. Kol moved besides her, watching her with a furrowed brow as she made the grass grow on the outside of the trail and flowers grow and bloom along the sides. The trees grew beautiful green leaves and a couple even green fruit or flowers on them. Kol looked at her, smiling, slightly surprised as he watched in awe. Once Mariah was done, she opened her eyes and lowered her arms
"That's better" she smiled. Kol nodded with a smile
"U are quite powerful, u know that?" He asked
"Thanks" Mariah nodded "now can we get back to the ring?" She asked, pulling her grimoire out again, opening the book and showing him the page again. Kol sighed slightly, looking at the page
"I never spent time with the Bennett witches, but from the looks of it, it was supposed to protect humans from supernatural creatures. Why would u want to reverse the effects?"
"Because Alaric is going crazy from dying too many times with the ring on..I need to figure out how to reverse the effects so I can save him" Mariah answered. Kol glanced at her before looking down at the book
"That ring defies the balance of nature. When someone dies, they're supposed to stay dead"
"Says the immortal vampire" Mariah smiled slightly with raised brows.
"After so many deaths with the ring on..it starts to lose it effect, taking the persons humanity with it. Every time they die, a piece of themself is stripped away. There's a possibility that some herbs can stop the effects when taken every day but I wouldn't even begin to know what herbs." He sighed "I'm sorry, love...but I don't know how to reverse it" he told her. Mariah looked at him with a slight furrowed brow as she closed the book (music stops)
"But u knew that already, didn't u?" She asked. Kol looked away and Mariah scoffed "u knew u couldn't do anything to help me...u just wanted to waste my time" she fumed. She turned and started to walk back but she stopped "u know..for a split second, u almost had me" she admitted. Kol looked at her, slightly guilty
"Come on, darling" he spoke
"No" Mariah held out her hand for him to stop "I know u may not care ab me or Alaric, but Alaric is one of the only family members that I have left. I need to save him." She told him. She rolled her eyes, scoffing at him "I can't believe I actually felt bad ab letting Esther kill u." She shook her head "see u around" she stated, turning and walking away
"Mariah" Kol called out. He sighed, feeling slightly guilty and slightly angry at himself. He huffed, turning and punching a tree, bark flying off of it as his fist collided with it.
