The next morning, Mariah opened her eyes to see her ceiling above her head. She furrowed her brows, sitting up and looking around her bedroom confused. She turned and looked over as Elena walked inside

"Hey, ur up." She greeted

"How did I get here?" Mariah asked

"Kol brought u, and surprisingly, he didn't kill me or Jeremy when he did."

"Kol saved me?" Mariah asked

"Yes but don't let that be a reason to forgive him, Mariah. He still wants Jeremy dead"

"I know" Mariah sighed

"I was gonna ask if maybe there was a spell u could do..to make sure Kol can't get inside the house"

"Yeah..yeah I'll find something"

"Ur not gonna tell her?" Jeremy asked Elena

"She can't know. She still loves him, jer. She won't help. She'll put up a spell to keep him out, but if she knows we wanna kill him..she'll try to stop us. We can't let her do that" Elena told him as she made a cup of coffee, pouring some powder inside it

"What r u doing?" Jeremy asked "r u gonna drug her?!" He asked

"Sh" Elena shushed him as she stirred the coffee "it's the only way to make sure we can kill Kol without her intervening "this will keep her out all
day..hopefully."

"So we have a day" Jeremy nodded

"Yeah" Elena nodded

"And what r we supposed to do when Mariah hates us after we kill her boyfriend?"

"She'll understand..eventually." Elena told him

"He can't get in" Mariah told Elena as she stood up from sitting in front of the door "I put up a spell. No vampires can get inside unless a human.." she pointed at Jeremy "says so"

"Good" Elena nodded "how's ur head?" She asked. Mariah shrugged

"I'm fine" she told her, lying slightly "listen..I'm not gonna let him hurt jeremy" she told her. Elena nodded and Mariah gave her a thin smile before walking upstairs. Elena turned and looked at Jeremy and the two shared a guilty look as he handed Elena the coffee cup. Elena nodded before walking upstairs.

Elena walked into Mariah's room to see her sitting in her window seat. Mariah smiled slightly

"Hey." She greeted. Elena smiled slightly back

"Hey" she spoke as she walked over, holding out the coffee. Mariah smiled

"Thanks" she told her, taking the cup from her and taking a sip as elena sat down

"Listen. I'm sorry" elena told her. Mariah furrowed her brows

"Why? U didn't do anything wrong" she told her

"I yelled at u. I blamed u. U fell in love. I can't..I can't hate u for that. I also can't blame u for what kol has done or what he wants to do."

"I tried to stop him. He's just...he's so afraid of Silas, he doesn't care who gets hurt. The more sad thing is..Im pretty sure he thinks he's doing it for me." She told her. Elena furrowed her brows "for us. For our relationship. I told him I'd become a vampire"

"What?" Elena asked harshly, shocked

"I know. I have to admit it tho, for a moment, I wanted it"

"He has got u all screwed up, Mariah. U never wanted to become a vampire. U wanted a life, a human life"
