Reeve's POV

"Ano 'to? Kinakabahan ako sa sopresa mo, Reeve," reklamo niya.

I smirked and smiled while guiding her. We had a nice dinner, and she seemed happy with everything. She loved the food that I cooked and complimented me well. I didn't let her do the remaining work and just let her relax.

Pagkatapo niyang maligo at handa na sana siyang matulog, ay saka ko naman ginawa ang sorpresa ko sa kanya. Pinaghandaaan ko ito, at sa simpling bagay na ito, ay maibibigay ko man lang sa kanya ang date na pinangarap niya.

There was no city light, as we live here up the mountains. Kahit papaano ay may alam ko pagdating sa mga electrical na bagay at koneksyon nito. 

I improvised some lights using the solar panel and connected them to the lights that I made. It's pretty expensive to buy the ready-made one, and I don't have the funds. But to make it from scratch, I was impressed with myself for that.

"Malayo pa ba?"

"Malapit na. Konting hakbang nalang. Siguro mga one hundred pa."

"Ano!?" Huminto siya at humarap sa akin. Hindi niya ako nakikita dahil may piring siya sa mata.

"Kapag ito hindi maganda makakatikim ka talaga sa akin sa mamaya!" Pagbabanta niya at bahagya akong natawa. Napailing ako at ibinalik ang katawan niya sa puwesto.

"You will love it, love. Trust me," I whispered and guided her again.

She firmly holds my hand, and I can feel her body tense. The dirt going up was not easy because of its landscape. It's a slope type and just a few meters from where the residence it was located. It's just at the back of the house.

I've spent two days cleaning the area, creating a footpath all the way to the top. I made the step more accessible for her to get to the place.

"Reeve?" mahinang sambit niya sa pangalan ko at nahinto kaming saglit.

"Hmm?" I answered as I hold her. Malapit na kami, at nasa harap na ito. Nakikita ko ang kinang ng paligid pero hindi pa niya nakikita dahil nakapiring ang mga mata niya.

"Hanggang ngayon ba ay wala ka parin bang naalala?"

Huminto ako at huminga muna nang malalim. Iniharap ko ang katawan niya sa akin para maihanda ko siya sa sorpresa ko, at maingat ang pagtangal na ginawa ko sa takip sa mata niya.

"Wala parin, Mel. . . Don't worry. It's unnecessary anymore because having you with me completes the whole of me," I said, kissing her forehead.

"T-Talaga? Sapat na ako sa lahat at hindi mo na kailangan ang nakaraan mo?" Kurap ng mga mata niya, at alam kong nababahala siya.

"Yes, my love. . . You are more than enough for me. Trust me. I am happy," saad ko at iniharap ko na siya sa sorpresa ko.

"Oh my. . . " Napatakip-bibig siya nang makita ang lahat at humakbang siyang tinitigan ang mga ito.

"Paano mo ginawa 'to?" Titig niya sa akin. "Engineer ka ba? Electrical Engineer?" Namaywang siya at napailing lang din ako sa sarili.

"Do you like it?" I stepped closer to her and directed her to the table.

"Are you kidding me? Do I like it? No, not, I love it! And look at this?" Naupo na siya sa mesa na parang batang sabik sa lahat ng nakikita niya.

"I can't believe you did this all," she continued.

The truth is I spend a little bit on the wiring and all, but it's cheaper compared to those commercial ones at the shop.

"What's in here?"

Binuksan niya ang inihanda ko sa mesa at simpling chocolate mousse cake ito. Ako ang gumawa nito kanina. Isinantabi ko ito para ngayon. Para sa dessert naman dalawa.

"Happy monthsary, love," I said and smiled.

"Oo nga pala, monthsary nga pala natin ano. Salamat sa napakagandang sorpresa mo, Reeve. Wala man lang akong naihanda para sa 'yo. Naging abala kasi ako sa delivery ng tuyo."

My jaw tightened, and I stood to hug her. I hugged her from behind and whispered.

"I'm the luckiest man alive, Melissa. I don't want anything from you, love. . . Ikaw lang ay sapat na sa akin ang lahat." Higpit na yakap ko mula sa likod niya ay tumayo na siya. Humarap siya sa akin at niyakap akong mahigpit.

"Ako rin, Reeve. Hindi ko rin naman inakala na magiging ganito ako pagdating sa 'yo," titig niya sa mga mata ko. "You mean the world to me, Reeve. I love you."

"I love you more," I said and hugged her tightly. Dinukot ko na ang singsing mula sa bulsa ko at tumikhim muna ako bago nagsalita.

She pouted when she saw what I was going to do.

"I have no recollection of how we met and how we fell in love. I can't recall if I gave you a ring or proposed properly."

Huminto akong saglit dahil nahihirapan akong huminga, at pakiramdam ko ay bibigay ang luha ko sa mata.

"Hindi na iyon mahalaga, Mel. That was all in the past. I just want to do this tonight. It feels like something is missing, and I can't figure out what it is."

"I don't have all the wealth to buy you luxury things for material happiness. I'm not your perfect prince nor your dashing prince charming riding a fancy sports car. I don't have that, Mel. I have nothing to offer."

It's a damn shit feeling to tell this to her. I felt the pang of the dagger that was planted inside my chest. Parang may kung anong nakabaon sa puso ko at hindi ko maintindihan ito.

"All I have is my heart and my undying love, Melissa... Ito lang ang meron ako." I stopped again and swallowed my saliva. I'm holding her hand, and my eyes revert to her finger. I felt like my heart would come out of my chest because it was beating so fast inside me.

Tahimik lang siya at halos hindi na kumurap ang mga mata niya sa akin. Namilog lang lalo nang maisuot ko sa kanya ang singsing na binili ko.

"I love you, and I want you to be my wife. Let's get married, love. I can't live without you."

My eyes sting like I was chopping union. The tears fell without warning, and my fingers started to shake after I put the ring on her finger.

She gasped and covered her mouth using her other hand. And like me, she's crying too.

"Reeve!"

Halos mawalan ako ng balanse dahil nabigla ako sa ginawa niyang pagyakap sa akin.

Her body came crushing to me like someone threw a ball at me. I chuckled and slightly laughed as I held her tightly. My tears were like fireworks. And hearing her heartbeat makes me want to kiss her hard.

I can hear her cry, and it's beautiful. The tighter she hugged me, the pain beside my lower abdomen started to pinch inside.

"I love you, Reeve. And yes, I will, I-I will marry you!" Iyak niya at ngayon ay bumitaw na mula sa pagkakayakap sa akin. Tinitigan ako sa mata, at panay ang ginawa niyang pagtango sa sarili na nakangiti. 

I looked at her, feeling proud of her. She could easily say no to me and choose a better man. I'm not that stupid, and I know that there are a lot of guys who admire and like her. . . I'm just a lucky guy. 

"I love you more, Melissa," I said in between our kisses.
