Reeve's POV

"And she left you again, just like that. Parang inulit niya lang ang ginawa niya sa 'yo, Reeve." Diego laughs.

"Dammit. A woman like her who hides in a thick layer of sheet is hard to understand. You don't know what's going on inside their fucking mind, bro. They will drive you insane." He scoffs under his breath before drinking his beer.

My hand fisted as I clenched my jaw. 

I'm such an asshole for inviting her for a coffee. I admit it, I was taken aback earlier, and I want more from her. Ni hindi ko na nga hinatid si Jade at ang driver ko lang ang naghatid sa kanya. I went back inside because I wanted to talk to her and have a little time with her, but she left. . . just like in the old times. She fucking left me hanging again.

"How's Lawrence and the rest of the gang?" I changed the topic. I don't want to hear a single word anymore about Melissa. I had enough of her today.

"They're doing great, Reeve," seryosong titig ng mga mata niya, pero may halong mysteryo ito. Napatiim-bagang agad siya.

"May taping ako bukas sa sentro. Isang Linggo akong mananatili rito, kaya rito na muna ako sa territoryo mo, okay ba?"

Napangisi akong bigla at saka ininom ang beer.

"Haven't you changed your profession yet?"

"Nope." He shook his head and finished the remaining drink. 

"I like what I'm doing now, Reeve. I don't want to accept a big role in the acting industry. They knew me as Samuel. I'm happy living in that name. Ayaw ko ng dagdagan ang sakit sa ulo ni Cariena. Walang alam ang anak namin sa totoong mundo namin. Kaya mas mabuting ipagpatuloy na namin ito."

Mahina akong tumango at saka seryoso ang titig namin dalawa.

"Hindi ka na rin ba babalik sa dating mong pamilya?"

"Betty is happy, Reeve. At least she knows that I'm alive and well. Cariena's clan is still in chaos. Her father is still doing all the bad tricks to the rest of the gang. I don't want us to get involved with them. Mas mabuting patay na kami sa kanila. I don't want to start another war, Reeve. I had enough of it."

I nodded while drinking my beer. I agree with what Diego has said. I heard from Bryce that the mafia around the west-northside is currently in chaos.

Magulo and mga Costellos at hindi parin sila bumibitaw sa lahat ng nangyari. 

The De Luna and Del Fiore has lay low, but still on high alert. Ang dalawang itim na tupang Mondragon na ang kinatatakutan nila ngayon. . . sina Morris at Diezel.

"Feel at home, Digs. Do whatever you like to do at home." I sighed and stood up. Both of my hands were inside my pocket, and I looked at the dark sky.

I feel shitless at the moment, and it's bogging me. The image of Melissa's unhappy face gives me a gutful feeling that she was not happy after all.

"Don't think of making the same mistake again, Reeve. It will only cause you pain." Tapik ni Diego sa balikat ko, at pareho na kami ngayong nakatingin sa madilim na langit.

"But I cant help it, Digs. . . " wala sa sariling sagot ko.

"I know. Kilala kita at alam kong mahal mo parin si Melissa." Napaigting ang panga niya nang magtitigan kaming dalawa.

"Linus did a good job of finding out about Melissa. That brother of yours really loves you to death, Reeve. . . He is the complete definition of 'no retreat, no surrender.' Ipinaalala niya lang sa akin kung ano siya." Ngisi ni Deigo at tumango ako. Sabay kaming ngumiti at tahimik sa sarili.
