Reeve's POV

When I saw her tears, I held her close and comforted her with words of assurance. Then, as I kissed her forehead, I couldn't help but breathe in her scent, knowing I would miss her dearly. I will miss her. I will surely miss my Melissa.

"Ayaw kong umalis, Reeve. Pero wala akong magagawa." Sabay patak ng luha niya habang nakatitig sa mga mata ko. Pinunasan ko ito gamit ang kamay at pinipigilan ko rin ang sariling patak ng luha.

A true man never cries. . . that was what Diego used to tell me all the time.

Dammit, Digs. I don't think it will apply soon to me. My mind speaks.

Our wedding is scheduled for next month, and all the necessary arrangements have been taken care of. We have completed the paperwork, confirmed the services of a pastor, and arranged for a small gathering of our loved ones. Despite some initial hesitation, Melissa's father has finally given his blessing to our union.

Wala na akong balita sa ama ni Melissa mula ng bumalik ito sa Amerika noong nakaraang buwan. Ang alam ko ay pinaglaban ako ni Melissa sa abot ng gusto niya.

She's a fighter, and I'm so proud of her. Sa kanya ko napatunayan na walang silbe ang pera sa mundo pagdating sa puso niya. She is torn between following her heart and obeying her father's wishes, and in the end, she chooses us. We were ready to go away and start a new life of our own. Her father gave way to us, and he returned to the United States.

Kung kailan ay handa na ang lahat para sa nalalapit na kasal namin ay saka naman naglaro ang tadhana. . . Na-aksidente ang ama ni Melissa, at kailangan niyang lumipad patungong Amerika para sa Ama niya.

Melissa's father's health was deteriorating, and Melissa received a notice from his specialist to fly as soon as possible if she didn't want to miss the opportunity to see him alive. She has no choice, and she needs to do it for him. 

"Maghihintay ako, Mel. Nandito lang ako at hinding-hindi ako aalis sa lugar na ito." Sabay pahid ko sa luha niya.

Mahina siyang tumango at saka hinaplos ang pinsngi ko.

"Babalik ako, Reeve. Pangako. . . Mahal na mahal kita, Reeve." Pikit-mata niya at halik sa labi ko.

"I know, love. I know that you love me so much. You don't have to say it because I can feel it. And I love you too. You are my world."

Hindi ko na napigilan ang luha ko at kusang bumagsak na ito. Ito ang unang pagkakataon na maghihiwalay kami. Ito ang unang paghihiwalay namin.

"I will be back next week. I promise. May return ticket ako." Pilit na ngiti niya at mahina akong tumango.

"I love you and I will miss you. Tatawag ako, okay? May signal sa bandang kusina. Abangan mo ang tawag ko, okay?"

I nodded and hugged her tightly. We kissed, and I slowly let go of her. I wiped my tears straight away and pretended I didn't shed one. I inhaled deeply while looking at her walking away from me.

"Inday Melissa, mag-ingat ka ha." Kaway ni Tiya Esperanza sa kanya. Napaigting ang panga ko at huminto siyang saglit bago pumasok sa loob ng sasakyan at tinitigan ako.

She wiped her tears and looked at me with a lovely smile. She waved and sent me her flying kiss. And for the first time, I felt scared, so I ran towards her and hugged her tight.

"I will wait, Mel. I will love."

I kissed her for the last time and watched her slowly disappear right before my eyes.
