In another life, Joy would've loved the convertible Warren had shoved them all into, but there were too many of them and the space felt too cramped even when Warren lowered the roof and gave Joy some much-needed fresh air.
Joy kept looking around expecting to find her Cassie somewhere to comfort her about her terribly evident fear of enclosed spaces, or maybe to even lighten the mood, but then it hit her like a brick wall.
Oh, and there was also the fact that said convertible that made Joy horribly nostalgic about her dead best friend had run out of gas in the middle of the woods when they were just about out of everything essential to human life in the apocalypse.
Life sucked.
"Flashlight. No batteries," Doc was the first to participate in Warren's mandatory inventory check by laying the empty flashlight over the hood of the car, where the entire group but Murphy, had gathered around.
"Half a bottle of aspirin. Well, I got no ammo. Found this." Doc waved his crowbar in the air before dropping it back inside his medicine bag. If they weren't in the middle of the woods, that crowbar would be pretty handy.
"I got two batteries and four bullets." Warren contributed to the sad pile of inventory on the hood.
"I got two in my gun. Two randoms in those." Joy felt herself salivate at the sight of what Addy had carelessly placed on the pile.
"You got gum?"
"For repair purposes only." Addy countered all of their eager faces.
"Remember fresh breath?" Just to prove his point, Doc breathed on to Addy's face, and she scrunched her face up in disgust before shoving Doc away from her.
She still didn't budge.
"Just one." Addy didn't look amused, but Joy at least had to try. She couldn't remember the last time she ate, and that gum was begging to be chewed at just to satisfy her needs to munch on something.
"Repair. Purposes. Only."
"You almost left me to die, I deserve a half a stick of gum." Joy began to reach for the piece of gum, but Addy swatted her hand away.
"No." Joy scowled as she cradled her hand close to her chest. If Cassie were there, she would've taken pity on Joy and given her at least a quarter of the stick, or maybe convinced them all to share one stick to satisfy their hunger.
Who was Joy kidding, Cassie would probably not even mention the stick of gum, and they only would've realized she had it after it was inside her mouth and no one would want to share it then.
"Couple of bullets. Road flares." Vasquez spoke up after Joy's scolding, handing in his respective objects.
"I got one empty clip. No bullets." 10K added to the pile. Both his rifle and gun had run out of bullets and that made for a very sad 10K who had nothing to shoot.
