Ep. 9 "RoZwell" Ch. 5/6

•——— ——— —•——

Carefully Warren guided the group out of the elevator room, everyone with their guns at the ready, even Joy who much preferred her hatchet to the gun, but she didn't want whatever was behind creepy elevator number one to get even ten feet away from her.

As soon as Doc stepped out from the room behind Joy, the door shut behind him, effectively sealing the elevator room in and no matter how much Addy twisted the knob it didn't budge. Great, Joy's claustrophobia was starting to flare again.

"Guess we're not going back that way." Those words were the cherry on top of Joy's fears that led her to glue herself to 10K's side even more than usual. Dying in a secret Air Force base was not Joy's preferred way to go.

"Well, kid. Your uncle was right about the secret base part."

"I'm telling you, it's all true."

"You think he was right about aliens probing me as a baby too?" 10K shrugged, which Joy took as a maybe in answer.

"Don't worry, kid. We still love ya' probed baby or not."

"Thanks, Doc."

"We sure we wanna do this?" Murphy interrupted the heartfelt conversation between the trio at the back, voicing his thoughts more often than Joy ever did just to annoy them, at least Joy knew when to shut up... sometimes.

"He's got a point. It's not worth the risk." Someone get a lottery ticket or tick off the rest of your bucket list because Vasquez had just agreed with Murphy and that always meant something terrible was about to happen.

The first time they agreed they had to jump out a moving vehicle after killing an entire moving civilization, and Joy didn't want to figure out what would happen now.

"Tell me you don't wanna know what's down here." A clicking noise followed Warren's words, or maybe it was growling, all Joy knew was that her extensive knowledge in horror movies told her to run the other way. The funny best friend always died first.

"I don't wanna know what's down here." For once, Joy agreed with Murphy.

There was no way whatever horror movie creature was going for anyone but Joy first. I mean, she was the smallest, least experienced with a gun, and the funny best friend who acted like the glue between everyone, Joy was practically walking around with a t-shirt that said kill me first at that point.

But of course, like every horror movie, there was always the stupid person who always ran head first into the creepy sounds, and in this case, it was Bernadette.

"It's them. Those are the voices. They're here."

"Bernadette!" She paid Warren no mind and ran past the cramped corridors of the abandoned Air Force compound, forcing the group to follow her much to Joy's hesitance and chirping stomach.
