7| Chances
Toni's POV
August 8I've been thinking about Evelyn since I saw her and I've decided to give her a chance. Janet and I had a little talk and this time we didn't scream or yell at each other like last time. It resulted in me crying.
"Baby, I saw Evelyn while we were leaving the hospital today, well she saw me."
"Oh really. What happened?"
"She came up to me and at first I thought it was a fan. Then she was like hi Toni and I said hi back." I said in an annoyed tone and Janet laughed.
"So then she asked me if Tamar told me and I said yes I just don't think that I want to give you a second chance now. Oh and before all of that, she saw Desiree and she asked me if I broke up with you to have a child."
"Oh no she didn't!"
"Yes, she did baby. So I said no this is our child and then I said that I'll give her a call if I change my mind."
"That's good baby and are you?"
"Going to change my mind?" She nodded and I shrugged.
"I might. If I'm being honest, I kind of miss her, and I don't know why because she hurt me so bad." I said and sniffed towards the end of my sentence. Why am I crying over her? Janet grabbed my chin and made me look at her.
"It's okay to miss her baby. What you miss now, isn't the version of her that hurt you, you miss the version that you hope she is being that she said she changed." Wow... that was deep and Janet always knows what to say. I hugged her tight and she rubbed my back, soothing me.
I called Evelyn yesterday and today we are meeting up at the diner across from the hospital. I put on a white hoodie and a pair of brown ripped jeans. I then put on some accessories and put on my white Air Force.
"Mommy, where are you going again?" I heard Skai ask me as she sat on my bed.
"I'm going to see Tamar's mom."
"Oh, that's your mom too?"
"Umm, you could say that. I would explain it to you but you might not understand."
"I will just say it in a kid's way." She said and I chuckled. I sat on the bed and she sat on my lap.
"Okay, when your momma and I were dating they didn't want us together."
"Your parents?"
"Yup, they said that two women shouldn't be together and then they kicked me out."
"Oh, they were homosexual." My eyes widened and I looked down at her. Where did she hear that from?
"What?"
"Auntie Tamar said that."
"You probably heard wrong, homophobic."
"Oh yeah, that. Their mean then cause you and momma are the best mommies in the world."
"Aww, thank you sweat pea." I said and kissed Skai's cheek.
"You're welcome and if she makes you cry again let me know so I could beat her up." Skai said seriously and I laughed.
"I will."

I pulled up in the parking lot of the diner and leaned back in my seat. I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for her. Just as I was about to go inside my phone buzzed. Please let it be Janet cause I would go back home, no matter what. I looked at my phone and saw that Whitney is the one calling.
