"Momma, what's this?" Desiree said holding up one of the couple's sex toys. She pressed a button and it vibrated in her hands. She started laughing as it began tickling her. Janet's widened but she wasn't worried being that it was fresh out of the box.
"Baby come look at this!" Janet said yelling for her wife. Desiree laughed and then put the toy under her chin. She talked and it made her voice sound like she was on auto-tune.
"Des—Jan!" She didn't know who to call. Janet laughed as Desiree began singing.
"I'm a robot!"
"Janet, why are you laughing?"
"Relax baby, I promise you it's new."
"What is it, Mommy?" Desiree asked as she put it on the dresser watching it jump up and down. She and Janet laughed harder.
"It's a toy for adults." She took the toy out of her daughter's hand and placed it back in the packaging. Janet laid on the bed and panted from all the laughter she had done.
"Whew! That was hilarious."
"Janet stop laughing." Toni said and rolled her eyes.
"You're such a child." She told her wife and closed the dresser drawer. Desiree sat on the bed and looked at her mother.
"Am I in trouble Mommy?"
"No you're not in trouble but momma is."
"Me? Why?"
"Oh, that's my cue, purse!" She said mocking Toni and then left out her parents' room. Janet laughed but then shut up when her wife glared at her.
"Damn, I'm really in trouble?"
"What if she would've asked why we need a toy?"
"I would've told her the truth and then we would have to have the conversation with her."
"Janet she's eight, we haven't even had the talk yet with our other children yet."
"I'm pretty sure they know about sex. They are fifteen and sixteen."
"Oh my goodness, are they having sex?"
"I hope not."
"My goodness, we're going to continue with this conversation when we come back from our appointment." Today the couple is having their first counseling session. Their a bit nervous but they know that it will help their relationship.
"We will be back in about two hours. Don't open the door for anyone because whoever—"
"Comes here have keys." Her children finished for her.
"We know momma."
"Okay, we love you guys."
"We love you too!" The couple left their home and got inside of the car. Toni rested her hand on Janet's leg as they drove there. She sensed that her wife was nervous and attempted to calm her down. It took them about thirty minutes to arrive at the building. They got out of the car and walked in. Janet went to the front desk since she was the one that made the appointment.
"Mrs. Wilson will be with you guys soon." Janet sat down next to her wife and waited for the counselor. A few moments later she called the couple into her room. When she noticed the couple, she tried to stay professional and keep her cool. Mrs. Wilson had to remind herself that she is still at work and she is helping this couple. After introducing themselves the couple took a seat on her teal love seat.
"Tell me a bit about yourselves."
"My name is Toni and Janet and I have four kids together, three girls and one boy. We have been married for sixteen years, July will make seventeen. I would like to say that we have the best marriage but lately, we have been having arguments. Of course, we have had arguments before but not like this."
"I see so what made you guys come here?" Toni bit down on her bottom lip and looked at her wife. Janet sighed and began speaking.
"I fucked up, well it wasn't my fault. My sisters and I went out for a drink and some woman drugged me. She took me home with her and then texted Toni. When I noticed that I wasn't home I rushed home. Toni thought that I was cheating on her and she didn't believe me. She wasn't having that so she kicked me out."
"Mm and how did that make you feel Toni?"
"I was hurt, betrayed. I felt like I wasn't worth anything to her anymore. My um... father cheated on my mother for ten years out of their marriage and I swore to myself that I wasn't going to end up like them. Once I saw the signs, Janet would be out." Toni spoke truthfully and Mrs. Wilson nodded. She wrote down a few things in her book and then looked back at the couple.
"How did that make you feel Janet, knowing that you hurt Toni?"
"I was hurt too especially when she kicked me out. I couldn't see my kids or talk to them. She wasn't even answering my calls."
"Now Toni..."
"I was really angry at her, I didn't want to see or speak to her."
"I get that, but your children have the right to speak to their mother no matter what."
"I know that and I'm sorry baby."
"I accept your apology."
"See, progress already. Now, what started you guys' first argument? What do you guys remember from it?"
"It wasn't that big of an argument but more of a disagreement. I vividly remember it because we met with our daughter's social worker. She told us that our daughter's mother wants her back and we couldn't do anything about it. We got mad at each other but we apologized after."

"And that's the thing about our little arguments, we always apologize after even if one of us is in the wrong. I remember when my mother called the house asking to speak to me but I didn't let her. I told Janet and she told me to give my mother a chance. I yelled at her and then stormed off. I apologized because I shouldn't have yelled at her."

"I see and why do you guys feel like you argue more than before?"
"Honestly I think it's because we're getting older and we have a lot of time on our hands. You know, I think we're finding things to argue about."
"I understand. With only a few minutes left, I'm going to tell you guys this, sometimes you should stop and count to ten before you guys hurt each other because later on, you realize it really had no worth..."
