78| It hurts like hell

Janet stood in the kitchen with Eissa on a chair standing next to her. She is making a quick lunch for him and he wants to be in her skin.

"Do you want apple juice or water?"

"Water peas." Janet turned her back to get his cup and when she turned back around she could see Eissa falling out of the chair. She rushed to him and caught him just in time.

"Oh my gosh." She released a breath and Eissa giggled.

"Momma 'pider man." She caught him by his leg and he hung upside down. She giggled and picked him up.

"Papa that's why I told you to stay still. You could've hurt yourself really bad baby."

"I sorry." She hugged him and kissed his cheek.

"It's okay." Janet then sat him in his high chair and strapped him in. She placed Eissa plate of food in front of him and gave him a fork.

"Tank you Momma."

"You're welcome baby." Just then the house phone rang and Christian went to answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hey P, what's up?"

"A lot, where are your parents?"

"Mom is taking a nap and Ma is feeding Eissa."

"I need to speak to her, it's important."

"King who is that?"

"It's Paris." He handed the phone to his mother and she put it to her ear.

"Hey Paris."

"Hi, Mama K said to come over, all of you guys. That it's um, it's almost time." She spoke and sniffled at the end of her sentence. Janet froze. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her whole demeanor changed and Eissa took notice of that.

"O-okay, um we'll be over soon."

"Momma you 'tay?"

"I'll be okay baby, King can you watch him please." He nodded and Janet rushed upstairs to wake up her wife. She walked into the room and shook Toni awake.

"Baby wake up, we have to go." Toni grabbed Janet's hands as her eyes fluttered open.

"What happened? Where are we going?"

"Mama said that it's almost time."

Janet sat on her mother's couch while staring into space. The doctors had informed them that Joseph's oxygen levels are at 70 and by the end of the day he will be gone.

"You can't help him?" Desiree asked and Toni rubbed her leg.

"I'm sorry but he signed a DNR, which means that we can't do anything or else we can get in trouble with the law."

"Mama why did he sign a DNR?" Rebbie asked and Katherine sighed.

"He had the DNR signed the first time he had cancer. I tried to make him change his mind but he says that you can't skip death."

"Sounds like him." Yashi spoke and rubbed her eye. Joseph is napping now but the doctors are going to keep checking on him to make sure that he doesn't pass in his sleep. Eissa crawled to Toni and laid on her chest.

"Sad?"

"Yes baby, everyone is sad."

"Why?" He questioned and looked up at her.
