Nobody's POV
June 6Desiree walked into her mothers room wearing a plaid print blue dress. She's going to one of her friends party later that Janet will be taking her to. The dress that she has on is not appropriate for the weather but it's her favorite dress so she's determined to wear it.
"Mommy, can I wear this dress to the party?" Desiree asked as she walked into her parents' closet. Toni rose her brow and looked at her daughter.
"Yes? Okay." She said not giving her mother a chance to answer. She quickly left out of the closet but didn't get far.
"Missy get back here."
"Yes, mommy?"
"Didn't I tell you that you can't wear that dress today because it's cold out?"
"But mommy it's summer. It's June."
"I know baby but today is an unusual day in June. It's a bit chilly so you're going to have to find something else to wear. I can help you if you want."
"I wanna wear this dress Mommy. It's my favorite."
"I know it's your favorite dress but I already told you why you can't wear it. Now go put the dress away and find something else to put on."
"Mommy—"
"Desiree if I hear another word out of your mouth you won't be going to that party. Do you understand me?" She nodded her head and huffed as she began to walk back to her room. Before she got to her room she heard Janet come inside of the house. She smirked to herself before going downstairs.
"Momma?"
"Yes, baby."
"Do you like my dress?" Desiree asked as she walked into the living room. She did a spin and Janet smiled widely.
"Yes, princess you look so beautiful. Are you wearing that to the party?"
"Yes because you said so right?"
"Right." Just then Toni came down the stairs and saw her wife and daughter. Janet smiled and looked at Toni,
"Hi, love. Look at her dress that she's wearing to the party. Go, show your mother your dress." Janet told Desiree as she tried to hide behind her. Janet didn't know what was going on so she got up but Desiree clung to her.
"What's the matter, Des?" Janet asked but her daughter didn't answer.
"Didn't I tell you to put that dress away?"
"Yes." She lowly said and looked at Toni.
"So why do you still have it on? Go put that dress away now. Don't try me, Des." Toni told her daughter and she ran up the stairs.
"What just happened?"
"I told her that she can't wear the dress to the party and I guess she tried to get your opinion and you fell for it."
"Sure did."
"Janet this is our fourth child and you keep on falling for it."
Janet laughed, "I can't help it, they trap me." She leaned close to her wife and smiled.
"Put your foot down baby." She pecked her lips and Janet smiled.
"You know I can't." Toni laughed and got up from the couch.
"Oh, I set up an appointment with the couple counselor for Saturday at one."
"Okay, baby. I'm going to the mall with Tay, she says that she wants more things for the baby. I told her she should stay home and I can go pick them up but she's stubborn as always."
