Today I am going to the park to meet up with my mother. I have a few questions to ask her. The park that I am in is one that she used to take me and my brothers all the time. This is where I would go if I want to talk to her instead of traveling to New Jersey, she's always here. I set a blanket on the floor and played with a few threads.
"Why the visit baby?" I heard her ask and I looked up smiling. She smiled back and sat next to me. I leaned on her shoulder and she rubbed my back.
"I just have a few questions."
"Mmhmm."
"Umm I was looking at a few pictures of us and noticed that you took us everywhere, award shows, photo shoots, music video shoots, why is that? Not like that's a problem, I just feel like there's a backstory, am I right?"
She deeply sighed, "You are right and the reason is because when I was younger my brother and I got touched by one of our aunts, sexually."
"Auntie Dionne?" I asked and my mother quickly shook her head.
"No! Her sister Dee Dee. I was scared to tell anybody, which is why I didn't. I only told my mom after Dee Dee died, I w-was so so scared. I took you guys everywhere because I couldn't trust anyone. I was scared of what would happen to you guys." My mother said and her voice sounded like she had begun to cry. I looked up at her and wiped her tears away.
"I've heard stories about that happening from the media but you never confirmed it so I thought it was just rumors. I'm so so sorry Mommy that that happened to you..." I got a better understanding of why my mother took us everywhere with her. I'm glad that she did because you can't trust anyone. Sadly, she couldn't even trust her aunt.
Janet's POV October 7
I felt a weight on my chest and looked down seeing Toni sound asleep. I smiled and slowly removed myself from underneath her. I looked at the time which read 10:34 AM. Today is my baby's birthday and I'm so excited for what we planned for her today. I walked into the bathroom and did my morning routine.
Once I was done I took my prenatal vitamins and made my way downstairs. I don't know if it's the vitamins or because of my pregnancy, but my hair is growing so fast. Before I got pregnant, my hair was styled into a pixie cut. Now my hair is up to my shoulders and I'm only five months into my pregnancy. I love it though. I walked into the kitchen and saw our children making breakfast for Toni.
"Good morning guys."
"Good morning Momma."
"We're making all of Mommy's favorites." Desire excitedly said as she walked over to me. I kissed her cheek and she smiled.
"And what about my favorites?"
"It's not your birthday." I laughed and helped them so that they could eat before Toni woke up. About thirty minutes later we were done making breakfast. We made eggs, French toast, bacon, croissants, and a fruit bowl. Desiree cut them up while I monitored her, making sure that she didn't cut herself.
"I'll go wake her up." I said and they nodded.
"Don't take long because we know..." Skai warned.
I rose my brow, "Okay ma'am." I shook my head and walked to our room. Toni had moved to the middle of our bed with the sheets over her face. All you could see was her black hair. I laughed and got in the bed. I pulled the sheets back and tapped her nose. She pushed my face away and rolled onto her side.
I laughed, "Baby wake up, the kids have a surprise for you." I repeatedly kissed her lips and Toni kissed me back after a while. Her eyes opened and she looked at me.
"Happy birthday love."
"Thank you, baby." She kissed my lips one more time and I pulled away while smiling.
"When you finish using the bathroom, come downstairs."
"Nuh uh, where's my gift at girl."
I chuckled, "You can't get that right now, later."
"I'll be sure to remind you." I shook my head and then exited our room. I headed downstairs and didn't see the kids in the kitchen. I walked to the dining hall and saw them setting up with balloons for Toni.
"Hap— oh I thought you were mommy." King said and I shook my head while laughing.
"No, she should be coming down soon. I'll be on the lookout." Just as I left the dining hall I saw Toni walking my way.
"Oh, hi baby."
"Hi..." She chuckled and I smiled.
"Where are the kids?"
"Umm, they are doing something."
"Mmm, they're trying to surprise me."
"Maybe... just stay right here. Don't move." I told her and she nodded. I began to walk away but then turned around. Toni laughed at me,
"I'm not going to follow you, baby." I walked back into the dining hall and they were done. King held a bouquet of pink roses in his hands for Toni.
"She can come in now." I nodded and walked back out to get Toni. She smiled and grabbed my hands.
"Okay, close your eyes, baby. Matter of fact I'll cover them. I don't trust you." I used one of my hands to cover her eyes and told her not to peek. Once we got the the dining hall I removed my hands from her face. Toni opened her eyes and smiled widely. King gave her the flowers and she never stopped smiling.
"Thank you, King. You guys did this for me?"
"Yes, we did because it's your birthday!" Desiree said excitedly and smiled. Toni sat at the head of the table and we sat around her. After we all finished eating breakfast, it was time for Toni to open her gifts. Desiree made Toni a heart out of clay for Toni to put her jewelry in. Skai and Azuree put their money together and brought Toni a blue Chanel bag, she loves her Chanel. King got her a Pandora bracelet filled with charms.
I'll give Toni my gift later... 😏
