Volunteering Gone Wrong

(A/N: Thanks so much for the input!)

I guess I can't go back on my word…

I head to the back entrance of the arena and show my identification card to the employee, who lets me in.

I was offered the opportunity to volunteer for this and I accepted, glad to have something to do during Deviler's, but that was before I knew that Border Control is organizing security!

That means that a certain someone will most definitely be here! She's hoping to go into Border Control after graduation, after all, so there's no way she'd pass up an opportunity like this.

I'm greeted by an employee who gives me the uniform, and leads me to a changing room.

As I exit, adjusting the hat, I go over my plan.

I'm here to volunteer for security, not to have the awkward conversation that will most definitely happen moments after properly meeting Amelie. So, to avoid it, I've constructed a plan to completely avoid interacting with her altogether.

The first thing is to receive my orders on where I'm patrolling. Nothing is done in pairs since to volunteer for security you need a high enough rank, so I won't end up with her by myself. There will be a large group unless one person is asked to do something, so I can hide among others.

Secondly, if I see her at any point, I'll go through any means necessary to not be seen. That can include detection warding glasses, invisibility spells, etc.

If she does see me, I run away immediately... in a discreet fashion, of course.

Some would think I'm overthinking this, and to them I'd say…

I overthink everything.

As I'm thinking, I bump into someone.

"Oh! I'm sor…"

I look up.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

"That's okay. Okami, correct? I never got to apologize for the misunderstanding when we first met."

ALREADY AMELIE!?

"Eh, don't worry about it," I say, waving my hand nervously, "That didn't really matter to me."

"Really?" She asks with a small head tilt. "But you've been purposefully avoiding me at school, I thought that was why."

"Oh, that!" I say. "No, that's a completely different reason. It's not at all your fault."

She's a lot like him, but she's not her dad so it isn't really her fault.

She relaxes a bit. "I see. You know of my father, right?" She says. "He said to keep an eye out for you. How do you know him?"

"Uhh…"

Oh boy.

"You there," The head of security points at me. "Looks like there was some commotion near Block A. Go check it out.”

"Yes sir! Sorry, Amelie, looks like there's no time for that. W-What a shame! See you!"

And I speedwalk in the direction of Block A.

Yes! Operation AA can still be a success!

Block A is near Devimuse's tent right? Maybe Kerori knows what happened.

I knock on the door before coming in.

"Excuse me. We've recieved a report of a commotion around here… Ah."

Inside I see Kuromu, as well as… Iruma and Lied dressed as girls.

"..."

"..."

"..."

I slam the door shut and bolt.

WHAT THE HELL!?

I slow down and turn off my transformation spell.

Even if they come after me, they won't know it's me, I'll be fi-

"Okami? …How'd you do that?"

I jolt at the sudden voice. Slowly turning around, I see Kerori, or rather Kuromu, staring at me.

"You… saw that?" I meekly ask.

She just nods, eyes wide.

SHIT.

"Listen, I-I can explain, I-"

"You've already got a persona ready! As expected of you." She grins. "Now let's go!"
Before I can do anything, she grabs my arm and drags me back to her tent.

The day after the Makubari Dome incident

I choked on my water.

"I-Isn't that… Iruma?"

Clearing my throat, I stared at the girl beside Kuromu in the photo, and at the boy in all the photos in the newspapers.

"No, maybe… Maybe he has a twin sister! Yeah!"

But there's never been any mention of her…

No.

There's absolutely no way this timid kid is a cross-dresser.

Right?

Present day

Suddenly, I'm being put into an outfit similar to theirs against my will as someone puts makeup on me.

"Perfect!" Kerori says proudly. I can feel someone putting my hair into a long braid.
"What is happening!?"

Iruma and Lied are looking at me in pity.
Is this what happened to them as well?

"We need a fourth Evidol, ours switched teams."

WHAT!?

"Are you kidding me??? I can't be an Evidol!" I protest.

"Why not? I've seen you perform! I have no doubt both you and Iruma can pull this off, you're rank 5 after all!"

"I played the PIANO, that doesn't mean-"

"Hey! What about me!?" Lied interrupts. He's clutching something tightly to his chest.

An autograph?

"Of course I think you can do it too, I wouldn't risk completely embarrassing myself during the biggest event of the year otherwise. You did great at the Harvest Festival too." She turns back to me.

"Please, I really need your help! There's no one else I can ask, you're the only one who can do this on such short notice!"

She's lucky she's the one asking…

"Fine… for you, Kerori." I smile.

I mean, at least this way I'll be able to avoid Amelie...

A little while later, the judges are announcing our competition.

None of the competition seem like they'll be that much of a challenge... Other than that team with a bunch of guys. Well, we have guys as well, so we should be fine...

Suddenly, I hear a loud revving noise accompanying someone flying across the stage.

Is that a motorcycle!?!?

The judges introduce her as 'Greedy Gyari'.

Right! She's the one who did the Hell Dance with Kuromu!

"She proposed to Kuromu," Lied whispers.

"...What!?!?" I scream whisper back.

"Yeah, a few minutes before you showed up. Apparently she's done it before."

I can't wrap my head around that. I thought they hated each other! At least, that's what everyone said…
