"Okay... here we go, Silvy," Beem says, grabbing the edge of the cloth.
"Right," Silvia replies seriously. "Let's do this."
Beem takes off the cloth, and I ready my magic.
Let's see how long we can keep her sta-
"UWAAAAAAH!"
Silvia covers her eyes and bolts out.
"...That went well," I mumble, peeking out of the tent.
"Silvia-chan!"
"Silvia!!"
"Stay back!" Murmur yells, dropping down by her side. "You okay!? Are you unconscious..."
"Hah...! Agh!" Silvia pants. "My- My eyes met Galna's... Haahh! It was really...! Seriously! The! Best...!!"
A shiver runs down my spine as I see the look on Silvia's face.
That's...
No, it's different.
Silvia would never, I don't need to worry about that.
"It was the best!! Beem-sensei really is a genius! An ultra genius!!" Silvia exclaims as she gets up and heads over. "I'm gonna go again!"
"Silvia-chan...!" Iruma starts.
"Let me handle this!" Silvia insists. "No matter what, I'll make a copy and show it to you!"
"Any mental injuries?" I hear Kalego ask Murmur.
"Nothing so far, she's just really excited."
Just excited...
That's good.
That scared me, though.
"Ready to try again?" I ask with a smile, making way for Silvia to come back into the tent.
"Yeah, all good!" She exclaims, practically bouncing around.
.
.
.
"...Now," I say suddenly, and cover Silvia's eyes as Beem drags her backwards.
"Don't take this girl away, Galna," I hear Beem mutter as I cast my magic on Silvia. "You okay, Silvy?"
"...! H-How many minutes?" Silvia asks, coughing and panting.
"Two minutes and 36 seconds," I reply. "Impressive pacing, especially for a start."
"Next time I'll do three..." Silvia mutters. "No, five! I'll try copying her for five minutes!"
"Don't dive in too deep, Silvy," Beem warns. "If you succumb to your fear of her, it's all over. Got it?"
"Yes."
"We'll pull you back, so don't ever let go of my hand."
As Silvia looks back up at Galna, I can feel her aura tremble immediately.
I'm not sure just how much my magic helps her... but at the very least, it's not making anything worse.
Bern's grip tightens on Silvia's hand as I place one of mine on her back, and I feel something shift.
Is she... entering her evil cycle...!?
I immediately prepare to use my magic.
She has to be, it's too similar to Sabnock at the time. Her hair's quickly turning black too.
...And yet, there's something different about it.
Something far more stable.
I disperse my magic, instead keeping my hand on Silvia's back. Despite my expectation, half of Silvia's hair remains blonde as she lays down stroke after stroke of ink with her brush.
Man, artists are amazing.
With one final stroke, Silvia sets her brush down, leaning back as she pants.
"It's amazing," I whisper. "You've really done it justice."
A wide grin appears on her face as we exit the tent, Silvia still holding onto Beem's hand as we help her out.
The others rush towards us with smiles almost as big as hers.
She really did it... that's incredible.
"All right! F-First group, go ahead..." Silvia says after having calmed down a little.
"I-I'll take a look..." Iruma says, a little nervous as he and the rest of his trio enter the tent.
But they quickly run out with a scream, soon followed after by the other members of their Battler, all of them collapsing to the floor.
Damn. I don't even want to think what would happen if they saw the original Galna...
"Whoa- A- Are you okay!?"
Small timeskip because there's literally nothing for her to say
"...And so, once again, let's reiterate our original goal! The goal of our Magitools Battler at the Battler Party is..."
"""To plunge all of Babyls... into the depths of terror!!""" They all say in unison.
"Let's invite them all into our... haunted house!" Iruma grins creepily as they all cackle. "The tour begins... on Party Eve...!"
"I'm excited to see just how scary you can make it," I say as Iruma turns to me.
"Thank you again for your help," he beams.
"I didn't do much," I insist. "It was all them, really. I'm just happy I'll get to be here for this one."
"Oh, that's right," Asmodeus says, approaching us with Clara. "You weren't yet at Babyls, correct?"
"You didn't get to see our fireworks!" Clara exclaims.
Right, they did do fireworks last year...
"I can imagine them," I smile. "But hey, I'll enjoy this one to its fullest. After all, it's not like anything'll go wrong this time."
Not suffering from any injuries or sickness, so I'm all good for the Battler Party!
That's right. Nothing can go wrong this time!
The night before the Battler Party Pre-Party
I'm so excited!!
I can barely keep my eyes closed and try to fall asleep.
Especially since this time around I actually have friends. It's going to be so much fun! After all, I'm not hiding from anyone now, not...
...Wait, but that means it's already been over a year since that happened.
Oh.
At this time last year I was throwing up into a bucket with heavily injured and bandaged wings.
...I've barely realized.
Opening my eyes and unfurling my wings, I gaze at them as my excitement fades.
The scars still hurt if I touch them, but the physical damage is mostly gone.
...Holy crap, it's really been a year since I escaped that.
My breathing slowly picks up as the memories come flooding back as if the entirety of the past year was just yesterday.
Have things even gotten better overall? Have I gotten better overall? Sure, my life is finally becoming somewhat normal, but with him joining them and the whole Trickster Plan and Deviculum and the Heartbreaker and everything...
Aren't things just worse?
How is all of this only just now hitting me???
I'm such an idiot. I...
