Eventually, we reach a staircase, and I decide it's best for us to split up so the groups are smaller.

"We'll be going up, then! Good luck!" I say.

"Good luck, Okami!" Jazz replies, smiling as Iruma waves.

I hope they'll be ok...

"Where're we heading?" Joha asks as I check my map.

"A hidden room, it'll be the best place to stay for the next 13 minutes."

"Master, a report." Komi's voice chimes in my ear.

"Oh, one sec you two. What is it?"

"It's an emergency. Atori has popped the last of Team Sabnock's balloons, and is continuing to fight on the rooftop above you."

What the hell is he thinking!?

"Komi, I need you here now."

Within seconds, she arrives, bolting down the stairs. I turn to my teammates, handing them the map.

"Komi'll go with you to the room. I want you all to hide in there until the event's done, but I should come there to find you guys before the end. Got it?"

They nod and leave, understanding the seriousness of the situation.

I sprint up the stairs to the rooftop. There, I see Atori fighting Sabro, but his hair is black.

It's weird.

Every time I've imagined facing Atori or the others again in a fight, I was scared that I wouldn't be able to move.

That I'd be frozen in place, overcome with fear.

Instead, I'm angry.

I'm so angry.

The underclassmen's safety comes first in a situation like this, though.

I run to his teammates.

Sabro's doing shockingly well... but his aura's weird. Is he in his wicked phase?

"W... Why are they still fighting...?" The girl asks as I check them both for injuries.

Good, nothing major. Just some minor scrapes here and there.

"Don't worry," I reassure them, casting a minor healing spell, "Sabro will be fine."

I look back to the fight.

It's making me weirdly uncomfortable... it's like he's enjoying it...

Sabro notices us, and his weird grin falters.

He's not really in control of himself, is he... it makes sense, he's in his wicked phase after all.

Suddenly, Atori appears behind him.

"SABRO!" I shout, forming a barrier around him just in time.

"Oh, another one. Well, it wouldn't hurt to kill off a few~" Atori grins, his face flushed pink.

Just like the last time...

No! Focus!

I snap out a knife and lunge for him, and he swiftly dodges as expected. But it gets him away from Sabro and further from his teammates.

"You'll need more than that to hit me-"

"Oh, I know. RAFFIRE!"

I summon a half ring of fire behind him and rapidly move it towards me. Atori just barely avoids it, managing to jump higher than the flames. I quickly snap out a knife and charge at him, avoiding a series of what felt like stabs from his hands as I narrowly dodge him.
