(A/N: So sorry for the late update! I've been super busy with school and homework T-T)

Okay, first!

I need to take into account my surroundings and what I can afford to do in front of the crow-

Before I can finish my thoughts, Shiida and Gaap slice off the tentacles holding Lied and Jazz.

...Okay, that's fine!

I can still-

"This is perfect!" Sabro yells midair on his Kelpie familiar with an axe in hand. "Our lunch menu... could use some grilled squid!"

He turns to Asmodeus, who's being raised in the water with a flame in hand.

"I'll leave the grilling to you!"

"Hmph. Such a low-quality item... cannot possibly be served to Iruma-sama!"

"Hey~ Don't thrash around so much!" Agares calls out. "It's tough to make your footholds!"

Ugh, I give up! It's not even worth fighting, I know the others can deal with it.

"This kind of brings back memories of Walter Park!" Gaap says.

At least then I could actually do stuff...

I was a lot weaker back then, though.

Well, it's more I just couldn't use the full extent of my power.

Even now I still can't, though, there's a whole other aspect of my power I don't know how to use, not to mention the amount of mana I can use on command even when I take off my ring.

I've made some progress, at least.

I watch as the others work together and take down the Kraken.

Them a lot more than me, though.

Everyone else works so well together...

Meanwhile, I can't even do something as simple as save my classmates without either thinking too long or too little.

Not only am I helpless when it comes to my friends, I was helpless when he...

...

"Perfect... shot!!"

I look up to see Iruma's arrow piercing it.

...Oh, it's over.

The locals crowd onto the defeated Kraken.

"Those kids took down the kraken!!"

"That was great!!"

"Amazing!!"

"Especially... you, Iruma-kun! You were splendid!" Mephisto exclaims, pointing at Iruma. "One blow right to its vitals! That was exhilarating!"

Iruma's face lights up.

"Thank you very much!! Of course, the others were all awesome too! But the archery I learned from my master is really something else!!"

"Your master?" Mephisto asks.

"Yes! I learned my archery skills directly from Master Bachiko!! My master, Supreme Bow Barbatos Bachiko of the new 13 Crowns!! She's super cool and strong, and a master archer and Chief of the Barbatos Clan!!"

In front of another 13 Crown...?

The crowd starts to buzz with this new information.

"Ohh, so he's a disciple of the Barbatos Clan!"

"No wonder he's such a great archer!"

"They said she lacked skill, but I guess she was strong after all..."

"That's one of the new 13 Crowns for you!"

"Her disciple's awesome too!"

"Hmm... well aren't you a bad boy." Mephisto leans over Iruma with a smile. "Singing the praises of another 13 Crown in my territory..."

I don't see this ending well...

Mephisto already gives me the creeps, I don't even know why.

"I'm- I'm so sor-"

I step between the two, pushing Iruma slightly back.

"Pardon me, but I would like to interrupt for a moment."

"Oh? And what do you have to say?" Mephisto asks, seemingly amused by my interruption.

"Iruma, despite his political status, is still a child, so he's bound to make mistakes. Surely after what he's done today, you've seen for yourself that he's a good kid and didn't mean to offend you at all, let alone challenge you?"

Mephisto chuckles, his smile widening slightly.

"You say that like you're an adult," he replies.

I shrug.

"I'm just looking at thi-"

I stop mid sentence, forming a barrier around us as a swarm of krakens envelops us, one using all its tentacles to attack my barrier, to Mephisto's shock.

"Mephisto-san!! Okami-san!!" I faintly hear Iruma shout.

"Well that was quite rude of the- Oh, you're gone."

Guess I just have to wait this one out...

I summon a small white orb and move it around me, leaving a faint trail of light in its wake.

There's only so much I can do with this magic without someone teaching me... if only it worked like demon magic, then my life would be so much easier.

Or at least if I had someone to teach me...

I notice the orb start to tremble, just slightly. I dissipate it, shake my head around, and splash some water onto my face.

Thinking about him won't do me any good. What's in the past is in the past.

Suddenly, I hear a tapping on my barrier.

"It's safe to come out now," he says. "The krakens are all dealt with."

He does give off a weird vibe...

"Thank you for letting me know."

I lower my barrier and head back to shore.

It might just be the fact that I haven't even gotten a full day to rest recently.

Yeah, that's probably it.
