"...My name is Opera. I'm here on special assignment to teach your practicals. I will do my very best to whip you into shape. I look forward to working with you all."

Huh?

HUH???

Opera's a teacher now!?

"Ok, everyone, to begin…"

We gulp.

"...Let's have a tea break."

...Oh.

What?

.

.

.

Tea break!? Yeah, ok. Suuure!

"Pause. Let's review our situation!"

We're sitting down in a circle on a flat piece of mountain. There's still quite a lot left to go, but there's nowhere to grab onto.

"...And as for the magic we can use… Raffire, Cherusil, Libera and Fractal."

I don't really use Fractal a lot… I hope I'm not too bad at it.

"Fractal." I say quietly, casting it on myself.

Suddenly, I'm being lifted into the air.

Uh oh.

I screwed up, didn't I...?

"Um… guys…?" I squeak, but no one hears me.

I check the limit on my ring and pale.

It's way too high!

I set it to 10 during the Heartbreaker, and forgot to turn it back with everything that happened.

Did my weight go into the negatives!? I DEFINITELY put too much mana!

I keep going higher and higher until I reach the top. Then I keep going.

"Umm… h-hello?"

Shiida spots me, and just stares in shock.

I mean, this is one way to reach the top...

"Professor Shiida… what is so interesting behind me that you're sta-" Opera turns around.

"…"

"...Good afternoon." I say.

I do my best to move myself to above the flat area while getting higher. Now in a safe position, I undo the spell and manage to stick the landing.

I pull out a chair, and we sit in awkward silence for a while.

"..."

"..."

"...Okami what in the hell was that?" Opera breaks the silence.

"I'm sorry! I don't use Fractal often, so I was trying it out, but I accidentally went overboard!"

"Isn't that what your ring is for?"

"The limit was set high from the Heartbreaker…"

They sigh.

"I trained you better than this."

"I'm sorry…"

.

.

.

Shiida leaves to give the others advice, and Opera turns to me.

"This is convenient, I need to speak to you in private anyways."

"About what?"

They take out a letter and slide it to me. It's really fancy, though.

"An… invitation?"

"Lord Sullivan asked me to offer this to you. It's for an upcoming Deviculum where some important things for the Netherworld's future will be announced. He didn't give me any details, but I am aware that you come from a family of high nobility."

"Y-Yeah…"

I guess Sullivan knows now… I'm not that surprised he pieced it together. Still, it's a shame I couldn't keep it a secret longer.

"Then, I would suggest you consider it. I don't want Master Iruma to go for reasons I'm sure you understand, but if he does go then having you present would put my mind at ease. However, that's only a possibility. I wouldn't worry about it."

"I see… Would I need to tell anyone about my...?"

"That invitation is one of few that will keep the invitee completely anonymous. It will also be a masquerade ball, so no identities should be revealed."

I put away the invitation.

"In that case, I'd be honored to go."

Opera nods.

"Good. Now that that's settled…" I notice their expression gets serious. "I do have to ask you to tell me everything you know about Atori."

I tense up a bit at his name.

"I don't actually know as much as you'd think. I've just fought him before. That's how I knew he was dangerous, so I prepared for the worst case scenario and warned Professor Balam."

"Then, what about that feather I saw in the recording?"

I twist my ring under the table nervously.

"That fight was recorded…?"

They nod.

"All of it. It wasn't broadcasted, but it was still recorded. You were confident in your skills until that moment."

"...I was just caught off guard."

"What is that feather from, then?"

Should I tell them…?

"..."

At that moment, the others reach the top.

"Made ittttttt!"

The TIMING!

I have the best class in the world.

"I'm deaaaaaa- wait. Okami?"

Uh oh.

"Um. Yes?"

"You're already here!?"

"I-It was an accident! Really! I didn't mean to abandon you guys, I promise!"

"An accident!? That's a rank 5 demon for you, I guess…"

.

.

.

I take a sip of my tea. Now that the others are here, I can relax and actually enjoy the tea party.

So the point of that was to learn non-verbal Cherusil, huh. Good thing I already knew that.

Cherusil is a spell I'm quite familiar with, since I use transformation magic daily. Along the way, I accidentally learned the non-verbal version of the spell, which benefitted me so I never really questioned it.

Still, I'm excited for our next lessons.

"...Now go down the mountain the same way."

I'm now considering taking off my ring.
