NAHIMATAY lang naman siya, nothing too serious, but her father pulled some strings to get her admitted to the fanciest VIP room at Cambridge Hospital, surrounded by a bunch of bodyguards for good measure. Paano ako nakapasok? There's nothing I can't do has become my personal creed.

"How many times do I have to say it? I don't want anyone bugging me until I'm ready to leave. Save your words for the doctor, because I'm not interested! Pagod ako at naiinis!" Her words came out like rapid-fire bullets, each one packed with anger and deadly precision.

Ang narinig ko sa mga bantay niya, ligtas na siya ngunit kailangan muna niyang magpahinga. Even with the medicine she took, she's still feeling sleepy and her body really needs some downtime. "Are you deaf or something?! What's your name?! You're fired!" masungit na sigaw sa 'kin ng donya pagpasok ko. Isinara niya ang librong binabasa at muntik pa niyang ibato sa 'kin dahil sa inis.

Nailing na lamang ako at kalmadong lumapit. Hindi niya ako namumukhaan. I entered this room, pretending to be a doctor, dressed in their outfit and wearing a face mask. And yes, once again, my black contact lenses completed the look without my eyepatch.

"How are you?" kaswal kong tanong.

"Guards!" she quickly shouted.

Nakahinga ako nang maayos pagkatapos lumabas ni Lis. Akala ko makukulong ako na wala sa oras, eh, pero posible pa rin kapag tinopak ang babaeng 'to ano mang sandali.

"You..." With a raised eyebrow, she tilted her head in the direction of the door, silently telling me to do something. "Lock the door."

Siyempre sinunod ko agad, sa mga puntong ito ay hawak niya ang buhay ko.

"What brings a scientist into my room?" walang pagod niyang pagtataray. She's giving my empty hands and the pockets of my white coat a thorough inspection with her sharp eyes.

"Wala akong dalang kutsilyo o baril."

"Who knows? Maybe you've got a huge syringe hidden there filled with Amora's favorite toxins tapos bigla mo na lang akong tusukin."

I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Kapag 'di ka pa tumigil tutusukin talaga kita."

"What-"

"Tutusukin sa mata," I stopped her short before she could get another word out. "I'm here to make sure you're okay. Nahuli na 'yong gumawa nito sa 'yo."
