Pause, time, and let me take a breath,
You're moving too fast, I'm feeling bereft.
Where are you rushing, in such a flurry?
Please slow down, let me catch up, don't hurry.
It was morning, now it's night,
You've flown by, giving no respite.
Can't you give a warning, a gentle nudge?
Or go a little slower, not to begrudge?
You're racing too fast, let me hold on tight,
Before you whisk me away into the night.
Let me fulfil my purpose, my dreams unfulfilled,
Don't let me fade away, let my ambitions rebuild.
Time, please, stop in your relentless flight,
Grant me a moment to gather my might.
Oh dear time, see now, nothing awaits,
For you've passed it all, closing the gates.
Time, I'm talking to you, yes, it's true,
Stop, slow down, and let me catch my view.
Give me a chance to savour life's grace,
Before it's gone, lost in your hurried pace.
So, pause, time, and let me breathe,
Slow down, give me solace, grant me reprieve.
In this fleeting existence, let moments unfurl,
Before you sweep me away, like a forgotten pearl.
