Lament Of The Betrayed

Dear You, in power,

I must express my discontent,
In these words I present,
Not a suicide note, but words unsaid,
A cry for justice, with great dread.

Look at me, please take the time,
To see the pain behind my eyes,
Do I look fine, do I look okay?
My spirit's fading, day by day.

I believed in you, trusted your claim,
But now I see it was all a game,
With patriotic hope, I cast my vote,
For promises that stayed remote.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt,
Hoping you'd rise above the clout,
But oh, how wrong I was to believe,
In a leader who only deceives.

I fear for my life, I'm filled with dread,
As I join my fellow citizens, widespread,
Protesting your governance, so unjust,
Seeking change, for it's a must.

Old and young, they take to the streets,
Desperate pleas for their basic needs,
Elderly faces etched with despair,
Children robbed of a future so fair.

Is it too much to ask for a chance,
To dream, to hope, to advance?
To have a voice that's truly heard,
To find solace in your word?

The news paints a grim reality,
An economy burdened with austerity,
Electricity, food, and fuel costs rise,
While our pockets run dry, our hope defies.

Make life affordable, ease the strain,
Lower taxes, let us regain,
The joy of living, a life that's grand,
Extend a helping, compassionate hand.

We are alive, but not truly living,
Survival is all we are given,
Our energy drained in this endless fight,
As you turn a blind eye to our plight.

Police brutality stains our land,
A cruel order issued by your own hand,
You're killing us, slowly, painfully so,
With every blow, our spirits grow low.

Why not end it swiftly, if you dare,
Take a gun and shoot, if you truly care,
But no, you starve us bit by bit,
While you indulge in wealth and benefit.

How much longer can we endure,
This life that's harsh and insecure?
We yearn for relief, for a brighter dawn,
Where hope and opportunity are reborn.

I implore you, Politician, to see,
The suffering of your people, so free,
For only then can we truly thrive,
And keep the flame of hope alive.

Yours sincerely,
A concerned citizen
