A Tale Of Infidelity

In days of old, just him and I,
Before chaos came, and dreams did die.
A different man, he turned to be,
Late night calls, deceit ran free.

Midnight sneak-outs, weekends away,
From home he'd stray, no price to pay.
I should have seen the signs so red,
Gathered strength, and from him fled.

But I lingered on, wanting to see,
How far he'd go, with lies decree.
Excuses lame, like brittle thread,
He spun a web, my heart misled.

Then one fateful day, he was caught,
A cheap motel, his sins unbought.
The news spread wide, a painful blow,
Yet I forgave, my love did show.

He promised change, chose me again,
My heart believed, despite the pain.
But soon, his whore with child in tow,
He paraded shamelessly, a brutal blow.

I stood up tall, demanded he choose,
Between his flings and our love's ruse.
He chose me then, but what a lie,
A month later, with others sly.

He desecrated our sacred bed,
Like dust beneath a shoe, I bled.
Now I gaze upon his callous face,
With a girl so young, a sad disgrace.

My heart aches not for him, I find,
But for the women he'll leave behind.
A cheap loser, he's lost it all,
My respect, love, and children's call.

His son looks on with bitter eyes,
His youngest daughter, her soul denies.
Time has come to move ahead,
Gather my heart, and dreams long dead.

Dignity, respect, I'll reclaim,
Myself I'll cherish, without shame.
No more pain, it's time to live,
In freedom's embrace, my soul will thrive.
