Chapter:34

I woke up in the middle of a flower field. Everything was white, from the grass that was under me to the sky that was above. The field was endless. A huge tree stood a few feet away from me. Standing on my feet a sharp pain shoots through my leg. Limping I make my way to the tree and put a hand on it to keep me balanced.

"Where am I?" I asked myself.

"BOO!" Someone suddenly jumped out in front of me. I fell back and landed on my butt.

"Holy shit." I heard a gasp and looked up. To my surprise I saw my mom staring down at me, her arms crossed over her chest.

"Watch the language."

"Mom? Am I.. Did I-"

"No. Thank god." She bent down and gave me a hug.

"Where are we?" I asked looking around in awe.

"The in between."

"In between?" She nodded and stood to her feet, offering a hand I take it and she helps me. "Let me show you around."

Pointing at an open space. "There we have some flowers. On the opposite side you'll see the same flowers, and in front of us-"

"Let me guess, flowers?" I asked sarcastically, interrupting her. She playfully glared at me. Wrapping my arms around her, I bury my face in her shoulder. "I miss you"

Resting her head on mine, she combs my hair with her fingers. "I miss you too."

Zico's POV

"What happened!?" A doctor asked when they rolled Diana in the emergency room. It was the same doctor that she was working under, so when he saw her, the color in his face drained.

"She was hit by a car." The EMT I was riding with said.

"Jihoon!" He called. The said boy ran over from a room and when he saw us he stopped in his tracks. "Jihoon I need you to scrub up." Blinking a few times he snaps out of it and runs to get ready. I watched helplessly as they pushed through the doors. Trying to follow a nurse holds me back.

"Sir you have to wait in the waiting room."

"I'm her boyfriend!" I pleaded. She shook her and repeated what she said.

"Here." A towel was dropped on my lap. I looked up, Minhyuk was walking to Hara who was crying uncontrollably. Jaehyo sat next to Yu-Kwon across the room, rubbing his back in an attempt to calm him down. Mika sat next to Taeil, holding his hand so tightly her knuckles turned white. Kyung was walking back into the room after getting us some coffee. He handed everyone a cup, I was last and when he came to me he sat in the seat next to me. Everyone was on edge. Outside the sun started to rise.

"I'd use the towel to clean off her..." He trailed off when I looked down at my hands. They were covered.

"What happened to her!?" A voice shouted from the room entry. Dianas' stepfather was standing in the door frame, hands balled and eyes filled with rage. His gaze landed on me as he made his was over. He grabbed me by the collar and pushed me against the chair.

"What did you do to Ana!?" He yelled.

"I didn't do anything!" I hissed.

"Then why the hell is she IN THE HOSPITAL!?" He said the volume of his voice increasing by the end.

"SHE WAS HIT BY A CAR!" I shouted. He loosened his grip on me enough so I could get out of his grasp.

"Did you see the driver?" He asked. I shook my head.

"The windows were tinted."

"License plate? Car model? Anything!?" I looked down to the floor and shook my head. He scoffed. "I warned her to stay away from you." I shot him a glare. "Why didn't you call me when it happened?" He sneered.

"I was more concerned with my girlfriend.."

Ana's POV

"So what goes on in the 'in between'?" I asked as we walked the endless field.

"Well this is where people who passed away or are on their last thread of life come to pass to the other world."

"Other world? You mean... heaven?" She nodded as a sudden breeze blew across our faces. Closing her eyes she takes in a deep breath. "So people who are on the verge of dying... they can make the choice to continue to heaven or to go back and live the rest of their lives."

"Usually, that's how it goes."

"Usually?" I asked tilting my head.

"The bad people don't get a choice. Their sent straight to hell. Some are lucky enough to escape but are sent back soon after." She looked at me. "Like the people who did this to me and... to you."

"Why did you chose to go?" I asked quietly looking down at the colorless grass.

"I wanted to save the life of a boy who barely had a chance to live." She lifted my head to look at her. "He had the greenest eyes I've ever seen."

"I have a friend with eyes like that." We continued to walk, arms swinging back and forth on my sides.

"So, I have the choice to go back or to stay here, with you?"

"No." She said sternly.

"But you said-"

"I know what I said. You are not coming with me." She started walking back.

"But.."

"Ana, I mean it. You have someone waiting for you." A smile appears on her face. "Didn't Soengmin tell you to stay away from him?" She smirked.

"Ah.. yes. You see what had happened was-"

She held up her hand to stop me. "Do me a favor. Once you go back, tell him how you really feel instead of a getting drunk and sloppily kissing him then getting mad at him for something he didn't do."

I laughed nervously. "You saw that?"

"Yes." She deadpanned.

Zico's POV

Dr.Kim walked into the waiting area. He cleared his throat grabbing everyones attention. "She's going to be fine. The only serious injury she sustained was a broken leg. She has a mild concussion but other then those two things she be fine."

Hara jumped from her seat and hugged him. He looked a little surprised by this but patted her head. Minhyuk pouted as he tried to pry his girlfriend off the doctor.

Yu-Kwon stood up and bowed several times. Mika let the tears she's been holding back fall.

"Is she up?" I asked walking past Soengmin.

"Yes. And she wants to see you." He said walking out the room and down the hall.

I walked through her room door. The voices coming from the TV were the first thing I heard, followed by shuffling of bed sheets and blankets. Diana limped into view holding her I.V stand to keep balance. Her right leg was in a full cast.

"You should be resting." She shook her head. Making a gesture with her hand she tells me to come closer. When I was close enough, she let's go of her I.V and wraps her arms around me. Standing on her tippy toes with her good foot she crashes her lips with mine. I snake my arms around her waist, kissing back.

When she pulled away, she looked me in the eyes. Biting her lips she opens her mouth to speak. "I like you. Maybe even more then that." She breathlessly whispered.

"Love?" I asked smiling at her. Her face twists into discomfort. "Not love?"

She giggles and shakes her head. "Your hands are really cold." Her cheeks turned red. When I moved my hands I felt nothing but her smooth skin. My eyes widened when I realized that the back off her gown was wide open.

"S-Sorry." I stuttered. She laughed and kissed my nose.

"I Love you."
