🪷Our Minds are a Chamber of Secrets

11th May, 2004.

I averted my gaze to the cloudy sky above me, my vision was slightly blurry. I looked down and I was holding onto the railing of a ship. The waves of the ocean were strong and fierce, I couldn't quite tell why I was here, or where I even was. I turned around, attempting to find out more. Though I was only greeted with an empty deck, where are the passengers? Where is the captain? "Zander!" I heard someone call out my name, though the voice slowly got distorted until it didn't sound human anymore. I turned to my right and was immediately met with a tall, and nonhuman looking creature. It was dark, and it's eyes were glowing a fierce red. As I started to slowly back away, it lunged at me.

"Gah! Shit!" I immediately sat up as I gasped, I placed my hand on my chest, more accurately my heart. It was beating faster than usual and I tried to catch my breath. This is the fourth time in a row that I've had this kind of nightmare. I tightened my grasp on the bed sheets as I looked at my bedside table, I noticed that it was 05:42AM. Well, I got up a bit earlier than I should. At least I have more time to get ready for work. I cautiously looked around my room, still quite on edge. Why am I always on a ship in the middle of the ocean? And why am I always alone with that monster? I had so many questions, and yet such little answers.

I put on my lab coat as I waited for my coffee to cool down a little. I shortly went to my drawer and pulled out some fish food, I recently got a fish tank. Just for fun. I named the fish "Yuuji" I don't know why, it just sounded like a fun name. And besides, it reminded me of one of my highschool crushes whose name was Yuuji. "Morning, Yu. Are you hungry?" I talked in a sweet voice as I poured some of the food in the tank. I sometimes got second hand embarrassment from myself whenever I talked to animals in a sweet voice like that. Well, what can I say? I have a soft spot for animals.

After giving Yuuji some food, I picked up my coffee and took a sip, I immediately warmed myself up. I looked out the window, it was cloudy and it was raining again. Nothing unusual, it always rained a lot in May. As I leaned on one of the isles in my kitchen, I heard my cellphone go off. Seemed like I got a message. I flipped it open and saw that it was from Luke.

I stared at my phone in disbelief, did he seriously think I was upset just because I didn't send him a smiley face? I silently laughed as I put my cellphone back in my pocket. I took a few last sips of my coffee, checked if I had everything with me, and I finally said goodbye to Yuuji as I walked out.
After parking my car, I shortly saw Luke outside of the building. I ran up to him and pat him on the shoulder, he turned around. "Zander! Hey!" He excitedly greeted. "Hey." I smiled as we continued to walk. "Did you sleep well?" I asked, he frowned slightly. "Well..I keep having this strange nightmare. It repeats itself almost every night, I think this is probably the fourth time I've had it." I almost completely froze as he said those words. Could he be experiencing the same thing as me? It was exactly accurate. "Hm, what happened in that nightmare?" I asked looking up at him. "There's this weird and abandoned house near my apartment, and that same house keeps appearing in my nightmares." He explained, sounding distraught.
