20th May, 2004.
"What is it?" I asked, she anxiously looked around and then hesitated. "So..there's this problem I have.." She started. "I'm sorry, I don't remember mentioning that I'm apparently a therapist?" I sarcastically said as I tilted my head to the side. She furrowed her brows and sighed. "That's not what I meant. You're a scientist, so I assume that maybe you'll know why this is happening." She said as she crossed her arms. "Basically, once in a while, whenever I go to sleep it's like something controls my body and it gets me to..kill myself?" She explained, still quite unsure of herself. Chills immediately ran down my body. "Wait..what?" I said, my eyes becoming wide. "It already happened once. Luckily one of the nurses was checking up on everyone and she found me on time."
"Veronica. I need you to listen to me carefully." I whispered as I placed my hands on her shoulders to make sure she was fully paying attention to me. "Have you heard about the recent rise in deaths in New York? Mysterious suicides of people that are in their early 20s?" I asked, she looked a little confused at first. "Oh right! I remember seeing something like that on the news a while ago." She answered as she nodded. "How old are you by the way?" I asked, "25." She replied. Well, wow. That took me by surprise. I thought she was younger than Luke. "And..how tall are you?" - "Why are you asking me all of this? Are you planning on taking me out on a date?" She smirked. "Absolutely not, that's the last thing I'm planning on doing." I sternly replied in a monotone voice. She frowned. "Do you have a thing for Luke or something?" She scoffed. "Wha-!? No! Stop changing the topic!" I whisper shouted as I felt my cheeks slightly heat up.
"Just answer my question." I sighed. Dealing with this girl was going to be much harder than I thought. "Fine, since you scientists looveee to ask so many questions, I'm 5'6." I looked away as I continued to ponder. "Oh my god, you fit the description to the point." I said as I continued to think. "Wait what?" She asked rather confused. Almost every woman that died recently due to suicide, is always from the age range of 21-26. The height range is usually 5'4-5'8, it was also mostly women with either green eyes or yellow eyes. With men, the age range is also usually 21-26, and the height range is 5'8-6'1. The eye color of these men was usually either periwinkle or orange. The description also matches me in a way, I'm 23, and I'm 5'11. And I have periwinkle eyes. It's almost as if the target is supposed to be an exact replica of a specific person. But just what are they trying to achieve by causing all these suicides? Is the one behind all this even human? No, what if this is some natural cause? But then again that wouldn't make much se- "Hello??" - "Huh?"
"Sorry. I got lost in thought." I apologized. "Yeah, I can tell." She whispered."Yeah, sorry. I'm not fully...sober." I said as I placed my hand on my temple. "It's okay." She quietly said with a smile. "Soo..what does all of this mean?" She asked. "I'm not quite sure myself. Me and Luke are working on figuring it out along with a few other people." I said as I crossed my arms. I put a hand over my mouth and continued to think. What if this is some kind of spiritual thing? One person would surely know about that. "Give me a second." I said as I pulled out my cellphone. I flipped it open, and dialed his number. I hoped he'd be awake at this time. "Hello?"
"Hello father, I hope I didn't disrupt your slumber." I said, earning a strange look from Veronica.
"It's quite alright, I'm in the church anyway. Is something the matter?"
"I just wanted to ask something..do you have any idea if there are any spiritual connections that could possibly control one's body?" I asked.
"Hm..as far as I remember..I think there are quite a lot. I'm pretty sure there are a few books that explain this matter in more detail in the public library even." He answered.
"Ah, I see. Thank you father, that was all I wanted to ask."
"Of course. Have a good night Zander."
"Thank you, have a good night as well."I put my cellphone back into my pocket, "Did you call your dad or something..?" She asked. I signed, "No, that was just a priest from nearby." I answered. "So that's why you were talking all fancy." She looked at me but shortly brushed it off.
"Now what?"
"He told me there are a few books that could give us an answer in the public library..unfortunately, it's closed." I said as I leaned on the wall. "Why don't we break in?" She suggested. Her suggestion caught me off guard, "Sorry?" - "You heard me." I stared at her in disbelief. I murdered a man just a few days ago, and now doing this would not look good on my record. Am I turning into a criminal?! "Veronica, do you realize the fact that it's illegal? That's technically breaking and entering." I explained, hoping she'd change her mind. She sighed and gave up. "Fine. Let's go on Friday then, that's the only time I can sneak out again." I frowned, "I can't go on Friday, I'm going to a concert in Washington with Luke." She rolled her eyes and turned to look at the window.
