Jaden, Syrus, Alexis, Hassleberry, Gerard and Eisenstein left the other allies to prepare for the big battle to come, while they all set off to the Abandoned Dorm, much to Syrus' concern.

"What if Nightshroud expects us to show up? It could be a trap!"

"We have to take that chance, Sy," said Jaden as he ran ahead in the lead, "we can't just sit and wait, and if there's any chance of finally rescuing the lost souls of that dorm, then we must take it for their sakes!"

"I agree, but what do you think the trap is concerning them?" asked Alexis.

"Guess we'll find out when we blunder into it," said Jaden simply.

Soon, they reached the dark and grim building that haunted them at several points in their years at Duel Academy.

But they were not the first there.

Standing just at the door entering the dorm was Zorath Newman, grinning wickedly.

"I knew you'd show up, Jaden Yuki," he said viciously.

"Zorath, where's Nightshroud?!" demanded Jaden as he stopped before his enemy.

"My master is manifesting, using all the power of darkness from those in that dorm and the others lost in the darkness during this war of ours," explained Zorath maliciously, "and then he shall be unleashed on this world, and once the whole planet feels the wrath of Darkness, he shall take all other worlds and dimensions! All there will be is Darkness! And YOU! You, Jaden, will not intervene!"

"Why not?!"

"Because you will not even get past me," sneered Zorath in a wicked voice.

"You think you can beat me, Zorath?"

"I've waited for so long to duel you, Jaden. I wanted to when I saw you after beating that fool, Bonaparte, but I had other business to attend to for my master. But now I receive the reward I craved for my patience. A chance to take you out at last!"

"What's your beef, soldier?" shouted Hassleberry.

"What do you have against Jaden?" asked Gerard.

"Hehehe, wouldn't you like to know, but I'm getting impatient! Are you ready to duel me or not, Jaden?"

"Get your game on, Zorath!" declared Jaden, preparing his Duel Disk.

"I will, with pleasure," said Zorath.

Both Life Points were set at 4000.

"DUEL!"

"As you are the newest champion, I, the challenger shall begin!" said Zorath coldly.

"Be my guest," said Jaden coldly.

"In that case, I will start with Shadow Eater Titan!"

A monster made of shadows in a butch humanoid form appeared to the field, sporting 1500 Attack Points.

"I end my turn with a face-down!"

"I draw," said Jaden, "and I will begin with my Neo-Spacian Air Hummingbird. And by using his special ability, I can take 500 Life Points from your cards in your hand. As you have four, I gain 2000!"

Jaden's Life Points increased to a healthy 6000.

"Fine with me," said Zorath, "because you have triggered my Titan's ability. When your Life Points change, he gains Attack Points equal to the amount you lost or gained!"

"WHAT?!"

Titan became 3500 in seconds.

"Well, it's just as well it's still my turn," continued Jaden, "and I now play Polymerization, fusing my Avian and Burstinatrix in my hand to summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman!"
