Nightshroud's claw closed into an equally terrifying fist and seized its target.

"LET HER GO!" shouted Hassleberry and Marcel in unison.

But it was no use.

Alexis was swiped away from the unconscious Jaden and was lifted into Nightshroud's grasp in the air, and then a dark circular cage engulfed her, leaving her stuck and she clutched her head as the cage seemed to reflect nothing but painful memories and horrifying scenarios of the fate of the world.

"NOOO!"

"LET ME OUT!"

Atticus almost collapsed in horror, but Jasmine caught him.

"We have to get her out," cried Blair.

"But how?" asked Syrus.

"You cannot," mocked Nightshroud, "with her in my grasp, she will be tortured by the Darkness as I consume your world into mine and then, I will travel to the other dimensions once more...and take their worlds too!"

"You can't do this!" snapped Hassleberry.

"It's inhumane!" gasped Marcel.

"I am more humane than any of you," sneered Nightshroud, "I am the embodiment of mankind's future! I embody all of you foolish mortals clinging to the light. Only I'm ahead of the curve and I do not depend on light to survive."

"You have not got the human qualities to see the light. You have no right to dictate humanity, let alone call yourself human. You're nothing but pain and chaos!"

It was Chazz who spoke up.

"Big words from the pitiful servant," said Nightshroud, as casually as though he were addressing a fly who escaped his swatter.

"You used me, debased my morals...you made me toss away my friends and my rights to be a free man, just so you could take over Duel Academy. And all I got in return was more pain, humiliation and defeat! But it has humbled me, changed me! But not for the worse, in the Darkness, but in the Light! And I will prove it to you, here and now! I challenge you for Alexis' freedom, Nightshroud!"

"You always were a source of amusement in the grand scheme of my plans, Chazz Princeton," sneered Nightshroud, "and for that, I will HUMOUR you with an acceptance. But when I defeat you, only the Darkness will be all you'll ever know. You will be the first on this island to fall!"

"No, because I have nothing left to lose! So I can only win!" declared Chazz, priming his Duel Disk.

"Let's duel," said Nightshroud in a bored voice.

Nightshroud's arm morphed into a Duel Disk shape, his Deck manifesting within it.

Both players' Life Points started at 4000.

"This can't be good," said Jesse.

"Why? Chazz is only trying to rescue Alexis," said Syrus, who was now sitting beside the comatose Jaden.

"Because Chazz is the most vulnerable among us here. He has, as he said, nothing to lose. So Nightshroud could easily manipulate him against us again."

"He can't go back..." murmured Alexis, but then the image of Chazz fully embracing the Darkness and sending Jaden to the World of Darkness swirled around her Darkness Cage, filling her with woe once more.

Chazz looked up at the Cage and then over to Jaden resting in Syrus' arms. He sighed and pushed down his feelings, beyond those of anger at Nightshroud.

"It's time to take my Darkness down," said Chazz.

"If you can," said Nightshroud absently. "

"Watch me," snapped Chazz, "I start off with Armed Dragon LVL 3 in Attack mode!"
