In Chancellor Sheppard's office, Jaden was explaining his story of the prophecy from Yubel to Alexis, Dr Crowler and Chancellor Sheppard. They all had different reactions.
Alexis, pale, distrusting and terrified, due to her own past experiences with Yubel and the pain she had caused to her and her friends, most especially Jaden.
Crowler, disbelieving and ignorant. "So your demon girlfriend whom once put the whole Academy in a desert dimension says danger is coming, and you expect us to turn the place into a fortress or a bsttlefield again?"
And Sheppard, grave, grim and silent. He never had reason to doubt Jaden, Yubel perhaps, but if Jaden trusted her now, then so would he.
"We need to then prepare ourselves for any darkness or any type of threat that comes our way." he said to Jaden.
"Yes, Chancellor." said Jaden grimly.
Crowler was a little affronted that Sheppard could so eaisly take Jaden's word so easily, on the grounds of such an unlikely story, but then he thought that when it comes to Jaden Yuki, a lot of unlikely things become certain realities.
"Very well." he said, "I and Professor Rhodes will do as you command, Chancellor."
"Um, yes, indeed." agreed Alexis reluctantly. She was still nervy on the idea of allying with Yubel, and she was sometimes wondering just how close Jaden was with Yubel. Could it be that Jaden was in love with a Duel Spirit? She didn't know tht Yubel loved Jaden's past life as the Supreme King, and Jaden had decided to fuse his soul with Yubel's, so they could never be seperated again.
Yubel herself was listening in on the conversation. She had a secret of her own. As much as she loved Jaden, she loved his past self as the Supreme King more...but Jaden only ever let his spirit roam when there was real danger and he really needed him. Yubel would valiantly work alongside her true love; the Supreme King and because of that love, she would always be with Jaden to protect the Supreme King's other self. She was eager however, for any dark threat to come, as it would likely mean Jaden setting the Supreme King loose again and she could be happy with him in the dark fields of battle.
"Okay." said Sheppard, "I wish to conclude the meeting we had prior to Jaden's arrival and it may well be useful now in case of an emergency."
Jaden, Alexis and Crowler had their eyes on Sheppard now with interest.
"I was planning to retire at the end of this year," said Sheppard, "but it seems I will also be heading the Academy for this imminent danger. But I wish to say now, that should anything happen to me in the battles to come or if we're all lucky enough to either not have to face any threats or we do and we all pull through, then I wish to announe to you now, my chosen successor as Chancellor of the Duel Academy."
Jaden was wondering who this would be. He knew it couldn't be Miss Fontaine, Miss Dorothy or Professor Sartyr. They were not in the meeting, so that meant it must either be Alexis or Dr Crowler. Alexis seemed a very likely candidate due to her youth, hence the free will to make her own ideas for the Academy and her affection for honourable duelling, giving her some similarities with Sheppard himself. Crowler was also a suitable candidate, as he had taken the role of Chancellor once before, he had authority over others and he had much more experience than Alexis.
Sheppard cleared his throat. "I wish for my successor, in either circumstances, to be Professor Rhodes."
Jaden looked at Alexis. She was absolutely red with surprise and emotion. She had never felt so honoured and proud of any of her own achievements before. She, Alexis Rhodes, Chancellor of Duel Academy.....Chancellor Rhodes...
