Completely unaware of the chaos occurring at Duel Academy, Jaden and Syrus were sat with Jesse as he was arranging his deck strategies for his duel against the Darkness-infected Chazz.

"You know how dangerous it might be to duel Chazz, Jesse?" warned Jaden.

"He has Nightshroud on his side." shivered Syrus. "Can you defeat that force?"

"I'm sure gonna try." replied Jesse. "Besides, my spirit friends will help me and be there with me during the whole thing!"

Ruby hopped from out of her card to nuzzle him.

"Hey, buddy, back into your card before the duel or you'll cause a riot!" chuckled Jesse.

Ruby obeyed with a squeak of affection.

"Yeah. You're right, Jesse." smiled Jaden. "You can't lose with the Crystal Beasts by your side. And Rainbow Dragon too, if you can get him to kick Night Chazz's butt!"

"I endeavour to, buddy." chuckled Jesse.

Jaden still felt concerned, as did Syrus. And secretly, so was Jesse. After all, he fell to the World of Darkness once before, with Jaden by his side, and he didn't want to go back to that cold, dark, lonely place...but he knew that he had to take the risk to help Jaden defeat Chazz and later, Nightshroud himself.

"The second duel of the semi-finals will be taking place in thirty minutes!" came the commentator's voice over several speakers. "Chazz Princeton, Jesse Anderson, prepare yourselves for your duel!"

Jesse felt as prepared as he ever could be, and tucked his deck into his Duel Disk.

"You'll do great!" encouraged Syrus.

"Yeah, now go get rid of the Darkness in this tournament!" encouraged Jaden.

"I'm on it." said Jesse. We all are." he added, referring to his spirit friends.

Then, he turned away to go to the stadium arena to face off against Chazz.

Chazz was already there, feeling quite unconcerned. He was certain that he would defeat Jesse and then at last, he can move on to Jaden and have his revenge at long last.

Jaden and Syrus took their seats in the stadium, as close to the duel as possible.

"Do you really think Jesse can win?" asked Syrus.

"If we doubt him, he will certainly fail." said Jaden. "We just need to believe in Jesse and the Crystal Beasts and I'm sure his light can defeat Chazz's Darkness."

Syrus nodded, trying to remain confident for their mutual friend.

At last, Jesse approached the arena and up towards Chazz. His arrival caused a raucous applause, about as loud as Chazz's had been upon his arrival, but to Chazz, it was too much applause and it sparked further jealousy and, as a result, Darkness.

"Okay, gentlemen!" said the commentator between them. "This duel will decide which one of you will face off against Jaden in the final of this Pro League championship! The best of luck to you both!"

"I don't need luck." said Chazz dismissively.

"Nor do I." countered Jesse.

The commentator awkwardly allowed them to prime their Duel Disks.

"That's a thought!" said Syrus. "If Jesse wins this duel, you and he can have a proper duel. Your only ones involved Yubel or a lack of Rainbow Dragon! What a great way to end the Pro League that would be!"
