Nightshroud was seething in his domain of darkness.
"Adrian Gecko has been freed from my control. I have lost my soldier from the Duel Monster Spirit World. I will handle that dimension's darkness infestation later...but right now, I see that my main focus is to remove Jaden Yuki from the picture once and for all. And things in his dimension are still going according to plan."
He considered his plan thoroughly alongside his allies.
"Trueman may be gone, and Gecko may be free...but my most faithful servant is still undercover, Pierre the Gambler and Harrington Pace are set up and ready to act upon their Darkness....the other soldiers I have gathered are in hiding until I am ready to fully infiltrate the Earth...which should be safe once I destroy Jaden Yuki....but I still need to bestow orders upon Princeton..."
He gave some more thought.
"With the loss of two of my soldiers at the hands of Jaden Yuki...and my own personal failure to corrupt him into my ranks...we need more soldiers in his lair...spies in the campus..."
He soon connected his Dark mind to that of someone else's.
"I need you to travel to Duel Academy immediately. Afterwards, you can carry on your general life to keep yourself undercover until I am ready to begin the full blending of this world with my own...once you are at the Academy, under great discretion....turn as many people there as you can into my soldiers and just give them the instruction to learn the enemy's plans...this plan must come into force at once!"
"I obey, Master Nightshroud." came the reply of the other and weaker mind.

In an office in his own quarters, the journalist Gerard was researching rumours on a concern of security at Duel Academy. He could see images online of Jaden and Alexis among several former students, as well as the famous Jesse Anderson.
"What are you guys doing back there?" he wondered, "Surely you have no reason to be back there...and I doubt you have all decided to take on the careers of teaching there."
Then he found another image of the Abandoned Dorm, which seemed to be guarded by two young women, who Gerard recognised vaguely as two close friends of Alexis.
"I wonder..." he thought.
He typed up missing persons in certain areas...and he found nothing. Nothing that changed since he last looked up this story. Except for the returns of Atticus Rhodes and Yusuke Fujiwara.
"Apart from these two people...no-one has returned after all these years. Those children who went missing in that Dorm are still lost. I wonder if there's something I can do...maybe that's what those guys are doing back!"
Gerard continued researching deeply.

At the Academy, all of Jaden's friends as well as Eisenstein were waiting impatiently for any sign of his return with Yubel.
Jesse and Syrus were paranoid that Yubel had kidnapped him, as they still did not fully trust her. Alexis shared this concern, but was also feeling scared for Jaden in a way she still did not fully understand. Her chest was aching as though her heart was struggling to comprehend the idea that Jaden might be gone for good.
