Before the dusk had set in on Yubel's duel against Lorel, Dark Knight of Dark World, Jaden had still to do his duel through to the quarter finals back at the Pro League tournament. His opponent was known as Samuel Sorks.

Jaden was having difficulties however and Jesse knew this, and never left his friend alone for a moment. Not only was Jaden's best friend missing, maybe even lost to the World of Darkness, but now his protector and the love of his past life, Yubel was separated from him in order to find his friend.

"They'll be back, Jaden." said Jesse, as they surveyed the third duel, which only began later that afternoon to make the tournament last the day, and to give the audience and staff time to have lunch breaks.

"But what if...?"

"No, you can't think that way, Jaden." said Jesse firmly. "Don't forget what happened last time you let your negative emotions take over!"

"I know!" snapped Jaden.

He exhaled deeply as he controlled his errant temper.

Jesse bowed his head and understood. "Maybe we should ask the officials to postpone your duel until tomorrow. You never know, Yubel may have Syrus back by then."

"I need to do this now." said Jaden. "A duel may even help take my mind off things and we still need to find this agent. If I pull out, there may be a chance I'll be disqualified and I may even have let the agent of Nightshroud into the quarter finals without a blemish."

Jesse sighed.

"If you feel you must." he replied. "But it'll have to be now. Looks like the third duel is over."

Jaden saw this was so, and automatically rose from his seat and made his way out to the stadium. Unfortunately, he had to approach the stadium through the same corridor in which Zorath had captured Syrus after his duel.

Jesse rushed to the front of the stadium with the audience. He knew he couldn't go with Jaden, and worried that without supervision, his friend would be vulnerable to sinking into the Darkness again.

Samuel Sorks was waiting for Jaden, ready for their duel.

Eventually, walking much slower than he had when he left Jesse, Jaden came out onto the stadium, his head low and far from looking like the confident and powerful Jaden Yuki.

"This might be easier than I had expected." smirked Sorks with a most devious expression.

Jaden stepped out onto the stadium, unaware of the dark stare he was being given by Sorks. The commentator announced the duel.

"It is the last duel of the day, the end of the first half of the second qualifier round! Jaden Yuki vs. Samuel Sorks! Who will reach the quarter finals? Boys, show us which one it will be!"

Obediently, Jaden and Sorks primed their Duel Disks, placed and shuffled their decks and their life points were set at 4000 each, though Jaden took a bit longer as he had to remove Winged Kuriboh and Yubel's cards from his deck first.

"Let's duel!" declared the two duelists eventually.

"I'll start." said Jaden, drawing a card. "And I start off with one monster in Defense mode and I will end my turn with one face down."

"Is that all, Jaden?" asked Sorks with a dark gleam in his eye.

It was only then that Jaden fully took notice of Sorks and was shocked to see how blind he had been. Sorks looked malevolent and wicked, quite unlike the other duelists in the tournament.

"It's you, isn't it?" gasped Jaden.

"If you mean, I am an agent from Dark World, yes!" grinned Sorks. "And now I show you!"
