Jaden was unaware that Aster had met Sarina and about ten minutes later took off with her, far from the arena, and was now going to miss the semi-finals.

All that Jaden could think about was that he, Syrus, Chazz and Jesse were the last remaining competitors left in the tournament, and still there was no knowing which of them was the one bearing Nightshroud's Darkness.

Jaden asked Syrus if he could be alone that evening in the hotel. Syrus admitted he felt just the same way as he was still mourning Zane's sacrifice.

As Syrus was wealthier through his Pro career, he booked a different room for the night, whilst Jaden sat in his settee, and Yubel came out of her card and sat with him.

"You're thinking of the chance that one of your friends is the one causing all this trouble." she said.

"Yes." said Jaden. "Please tell me you know who it is." said Jaden.

"I know the tournament is where it was going to happen." replied Yubel. "But I am certain that you, Jesse and Syrus can't be the ones responsible for carrying that Darkness. When I sensed it, the three of you were at Duel Academy at the time. I looked at all those duelists when we came, and I couldn't make it out. There were too many to choose from and I didn't know the majority of their backgrounds. Then we got closer. Then you fought that Dark Knight in the second qualifier round. But even after you defeated him, I could still sense Darkness, a stronger Darkness than that of that knight."

"But since Nightshroud is so strong, isn't it possible he could have hidden his Darkness from myself, Jesse and Syrus?" asked Jaden.

"There is a chance." said Yubel doubtfully.

"Perhaps..." said Jaden, "...there's a chance it's him?"

"Him?" Yubel had a warning glare.

"The Supreme King part of me." said Jaden suggestively.

"I live in that soul of yours, Jaden." said Yubel severely. "It's true that when you weren't within my protection whilst in the parallel dimensions, you were susceptible to the Darkness, but that is gone for as long as I am here to protect you and my King's spirit."

Jaden felt grateful for that.

"So it isn't me, and it isn't the Supreme King." he said. "But what about Jesse, Syrus and Chazz?"

"Well, I admit the possibility that Nightshroud hid his influence somehow, but there is a certain way that we can rule them all out." replied Yubel.

"What? How?" asked Jaden keenly.

"As Duel Spirits, we can see within one's soul upon close inspection." said Yubel. "If we can enter the mind and soul of the suspects one by one, we will be able to see and feel the Darkness of Nightshroud within."

"So you want to enter Syrus and Jesse's bodies?" asked Jaden worriedly.

"Jesse may not need to. He has his Duel Spirit buddies in his Crystal Beast deck, but I will need to search through Syrus' soul, yes." affirmed Yubel.

Jaden didn't like the idea of Yubel entering Syrus' mind, body and soul. She did that enough times in the past and none of those occasions bore pleasant memories, but he knew that this time, it was to help in the fight against Nightshroud.

"Okay, but I want to have Syrus consent to it."

"And if he is the one we're after?" asked Yubel crossing her arms in a cynical manner.

"Then...fine. You can just do it, but try not to harm him while you're doing it." said Jaden.

Jaden also felt some doubt that Syrus was the culprit anyway. Why would Zorath Newman kidnap somebody who was an agent of Nightshroud anyway?
